Oh but Elmore you missed the guy in the Formula One Ferrari doing donuts and burning rubber....no lie! LOL

...I wonder if the "donuts" made their way down to the field surface?

Oh, I forgot to mention, I bought a sofa and chair that seemed to be a normal size in the showroom but were enormous when they arrived. I considered returning the chair, but I can actually curl up in it. A friend stopped by and saw it and said "wouldn't it be loverly?"  It took me a minute to remember "...with one enormous chair, oh wouldn't it be loverly"  Hmmm, that may be enough for me to keep it!

DR Cillaliz - Congrats on your move!

I envy you.  It's gonna take me at least two more trips back and forth between here and Fairfax (and Richmond) to get all my stuff up here.  *I've done the math, and renting a moving van would be sort of "silly", even if it would take care of things in one fell swoop.  And the thought of driving a moving van on the NJ Turnpike and over the GW Bridge and through Washington Heights does not appeal to me at all.

Have fun in your new castle!

Well it looked like he was on a track that circled the athletes. All you could see was smoke from the burning tires

Thanks!!  Well, the professional movers charge too much for me to have them move everything, but I have a piano and some family antiques that I wanted someone insured to move - especially in the snow. But it will be awhile before I get everything here. It's only a mile between houses and my handyman is very cheap. So I'll have him help me and I'll just pick up a load every time I go by there

Well... I should put away some of the stuff I brought up with me and/or organize some of it so I don't trip over it later on.

Yes, that was definitely Kathryn's finale dress from LOVELY TO LOOK AT.

She herself said she'd press herself against walls and columns to burst the grapes on that dress.

DR MBarnum - I also really enjoyed GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK. I highly recommend CAPOTE.  Philip Seymour Hoffman is just incredible. He really should win best actor for that performance.

I sang the priases of both of these movies back in November when I first saw them within a week of each other. I found them both marvelous, especially CAPOTE. I was thrilled when both got Best Picture nominations.

I saw CAPOTE last week and was really blown away. It was much better than I expected.

I finally got to PINKY tonight, well, about 70 minutes of it. I saved my place in it once IN JUSTICE came on. Enjoyed revisiting PINKY with marvelous performances from all three leading ladies. Jeanne Crain, normally not a very dynamic actress, was never better than in this film. Waters and Barrymore, well, it goes without saying that they're marvelous.

Me, too. I had heard great things about Hoffman's performance, but I wasn't prepared for how riveting everyone was in the movie, and seeing the public and private Truman was just astounding. I wish Clifton Collins, Jr. (as Perry Smith) had gotten some recognition. I thought he carried his end of the interpersonal relationship beautifully.

IN JUSTICE left me with tears in my eyes tonight. The show has really grown on me in the past few weeks.

MONK was a rerun, but a very moving one as well. I only remembered bits and pieces about it, but it has one of Tony Shalhoub's best performances in the series in this episode. Should be his Emmy submission episode.

Also watched one more CSI episode on DVD. This one from last season concerned transgender operations gone bad. A very graphic episode that ranks as one of the more unsettling in the history of the show.

I still have Thursday night's CSI episode to watch tomorrow along with the reaminder of PINKY.

I also noticed tonght that I haven't gotten around to the Robert Downey, Jr. THE SINGING DETECTIVE yet either. I forgot to put it in my Friday Media Check list this morning, but it'll be watched at some point this weekend, too.

I hope the ratings hold up once NBC moves LAS VEGAS to the timeslot. That's a big fear. That happens after the Olympics end in two weeks.

I really like hearing IMAGINE in the Olympics context.  It's sort of that warm and fuzzy moment that workd peace could really happen.

Well, I got my stuff re-organized in the fridge, and I set up my stuff in the cupboard.

...And I just had a slice of the Pumpkin-Chocolate Chip-Walnut Bread that my roommate made.  YUMMERS!!

TPunk and I recently returned home from a stellar staging of KISMET at NY City Center. What can you say about Stokes? The guy's a winner. He doesn't mug or ham it up in a role where it would be quite easy to do so. Marin Mazzie was a bombshell of hilarious proportions, shall we say. And the ingenue, who, it was announced, almost couldn't do the show because of a viral infection, did some phenomenal singing. You would never guess she was sick! A fun show all around.

Tom! There you are. You disappeared off my screen for a bit. Homer and Jethro have been on my mind of late. I am planning to make the all-time H&J collection, seeing as how they have not been honored with a box set, and their hits package only hints at their greatness.
