Here's a post:  a bunch of us at work and some other people I know are going to buy tickets for the tour of Wicked that's coming to Seattle.  We needed at least 20 people to purchase a group of tickets (individual tickets don't go on sale for a couple more months), and we've gotten 34 tickets sold!  Only three haven't actually paid, so far.  My friend Margo and I were going to call today to actually buy the tickets (she's using her credit card that gets frequent flyer miles) but the place that handles the group purchases is closed for the holiday!  We'll have to try again on Monday.

That's the end of my post. ;)

Hi, All - Just popped in for a minute to check on y'all and tell you that I'm going to disconnect my computer.  We have both severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings and  :o I'm home alone!  Thunder is beginning and I just saw a huge flash of lightening.

See you when it's over!

I'm just back from work and feeling exhausted from the week.  What do I see when I walk into my building but a notice saying we have the opportunity to buy our apartments, and contact the realtor if we are interested.  A copy of the flier wan in an envelope under our door as well.  I have no idea how this might impact our lease but I am not going to worry about it now.  These apartments are by no means prime real estate and I am sure that we are safe at the very least through the end of the year when our lease is up.  By that point I may be working a ways away from here and looking to move, so no need to panic.

Which movie, I don't know.  I was going to peruse the selections available on demand through the cable.  Alhough I suppose I could watch the gay porn given to me by my supervisor at work today.

He asked if I wanted to review it to see if was appropriate to use in the next training session for new volunteers.  I wonder if I can get paid for watching it??

Actually, no.  I didn't even think about it.  But I might listen to it (them...I have both recordings) tomorrow. ;)

You're a day late!

If you're a GHOST WHISPERER fan, there's a great sequence with comedians tonight.

I know...a day late and a dollar short.  And I'm not exactly a "fan," but I do watch "Ghost Whisperer."  Friday is my big TV watching day.  More shows on more channels than any other day. ;)

George - I'm pretty sure that the touring company of WICKED that you'll be seeing in Seattle is the same company and scenic design that I saw in Philly last week.  If so, not that you were worried about it, the show doesn't take a back seat in any way to what's playing in New York.  You're going to have  a great time, and even seeing a physical produciton that somehow manages to be more effective than the Broadway set.  Really something to loook forward to.

Yes, DR DtM - Black Narcissis is amazing....I think the day after MR BK got his copy of the DVD he had several interesting things to say in the notes...

Vickie Lester?  Mrs Norman Maine?  When she was singing with the band, we called her Esther...

Yes MANY strong thunderstorms with BIG hail and damaging winds here this evening.  They seem to have passed just north of my hometown, although Blue still jumped the pen and ended up on the deck at the first thunder clap.  She is now safely and happily ensconced on the back porch.

My Florida Evans impression....

Damn. Damn!! Damn!!! DAMN!!!!!

DR RLP's post reminded me that I forgot to add THE BLOB to my Criterion order.....

How ironic that DR HISAKA brought Mr BK the HIGH AND LOW poster....said movie is on its way to my house as we speak.

DR MBARNUM - your news gave me quite a start....until I read a bit further....yes the PAKEEZAH actor has been gone quite awhile...

Enjoyed SOME of the things I viewed tonight. Started off with a MURDER SHE WROTE rerun. This was the first one where Jessica moved to New York City to assume a teaching position and, of course, there is a murder in the parking garage of her apartment building. Among the guest stars were Eugene Roche, Rosemary Forsyth, and John Considine. I remember seeing this episode the first time and being astounded at the identity of the murderer. Looking at it again tonight, the clues were not as adroitly placed as in previous seasons of the show. This may have been when the majority of the episodes of the show were not the scrupulously fair mysteries of the first five or six seasons.

Then, I watched the Vivien Leigh Biography episode. She was a sad but fascinating woman, and I liked the show even if it did stint on the last decade of her life. The show probably could have been two hours long rather than the usual one.

I watched the last half of I'M NO ANGEL. There are some sound problems later in the film; a complete dropout for a couple of seconds and some really tinny sound at the start of the trial sequence. Saw one noticeable bit of garbage on the left side of the frame, but it still looked grand for 99% of the picture.

I'm afraid CONVICTION is getting more shrill and melodramatic with each new episode. This was the "episode of pessimism" where each of the lawyers was handling a negative, depressing development either in his personal or professional life. By the end, the pile a negativity was stacked pretty high and made for an uncomfortable, unfulfilling hour.

On Tuesday night in the SVU timeslot, the show did about half of the audience that a new episode of SVU typically draws. If tonight's show doesn't show some kind of uptick in ratings from the downtrend of the last few Fridays, I will not expect NBC to renew it despite having a LOT of holes to fill in its schedule next season.

Before CONVICTION came on, I put in "The Menagerie Part I" from the first season of STAR TREK. I have never seen either of these episodes from the first season of STAR TREK, so I'll look forward to finishing the first part and seeing the second part tomorrow.

I saw the Philly engagement of Wicked.  I was appalled to find that FOUR leads were out (Elphaba, Glinda, Fiyero and Dr. Dillamond).  I travelled two hours and paid a great deal of money simply to see Julia Murney sing the hell out of the show (not one of my favorites).  It struck me as so odd that no one could be bothered to show up for that particular performance.

When you finish listening to ASSASSINS tonight, you should wath the first half of TITANIC, but then save the bottom half of the movie for tomorrow morning.
