I've never seen it live, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I am late for the Tony partay!!!

And I will have to leave early to cause it is close to bedtime already...and is anyone elses broadcast of the Tonys sort of blurry? All other channels seem to be fine, just not this one!

Better late than never!  The broadcast quality is fine for me.

And that shot of the smug producer of Drowsy Chaperone made me want to puke.  However, that was compensated by the fact that my darling Lynnette Perry, his wife, was sitting next to him looking as beautiful as ever.

The Seattle station is showing a commercial for Intiman and plugging Bartlett Sher's Tony nomination.

Paul Rudd is on right now!  What a rube. :P A cute rube, but a rube.

We just saw the Thripany Opera. I think that's what he said. It was odd.

Kathleen Marshall has two Tonys and her more talented brother Rob has none. Something's wrong somewhere.

There was nothing wrong with the broadcast of the TOnys on the East Coast, either, DR MBarnum.

Heading to bed??? WUSSBURGER!

So, Chaperone has won book and score - not surprising, given there were only three nominees in each category, which says more about the B'way musical than anything.  I was happy to see The Wedding Singer boys up - they're on my B'way Bound album and I believe they're the first of those new writers to be up for a Tony or even have a show on B'way.

The number from "The Drowsy Chaperone" was quite a bit of fun.  Is that indicative of the quality of the rest of the show?

I enjoyed the number from "Sweeny Todd" but I'm quite over earth mother Patti Lupone.  The overall effect of the "new" show is a letdown for me.  I'm a fan of the original orchestrations and lush orchestral performance...as important to this tragic piece, IMO, as the quality of the vocal delivery of the trenchant lyrics.

I wish people would stop "dedicating" awards they've just received.

You can't "dedicate", IMO, anything you -- yourself -- have not created.

You can dedicate a statue, a painting, a play, a book, a song, a performance, a game you're about to play....anything YOU can create yourself.

But winners of Oscars and Tonys do not create their awards and, thus, are terribly misguided in their "dedicatory" sentiments.

Again...IMO.
