Well I thought that I might be able to stay up until the west coast broadcast is done, but I think it's time to hit the hay.  I look forward to reading everyone's commentary tomorrow morning.

Good night all!

T.R. Knight's hair is blue!  I don't think it's the lighting.

And best featured actress in a musical...Beth Leavel.  She's funny! ;D

I wish people would stop "dedicating" awards they've just received.

You can't "dedicate", IMO, anything you -- yourself -- have not created.

You can dedicate a statue, a painting, a play, a book, a song, a performance, a game you're about to play....anything YOU can create yourself.

But winners of Oscars and Tonys do not create their awards and, thus, are terribly misguided in their "dedicatory" sentiments.

Again...IMO.

Hmmmm... to dedicate can also mean

to inscribe or address by way of compliment, so...

Even here (that shows you!! ;) actors "dédient" their awards to someone!

George said:

And I will second that. Yes, it is blue. I saw him on our local NY1 pre-show. It's blue and it's really unattractive on him.

Technically the title of the song is Show Off, not I Don't Wanna Show Off and it does not play as well on the small screen as it does in the theatre. In the Marquis Theatre, even in the mezzanine it's a great number but on television it just sat there.

Twice they've announced, pre-commerical break, that Julia Roberts was coming up next.  And twice she hasn't been been up...or re-announced.

So...what's the "concept" for The Threepenny Opera??  Cyndi Lauper (what is she wearing??) kisses a woman and Alan Cumming kisses a man (which I don't mind at all), but are they in an asylum like Sweeney Todd?

Didn't like the staging of Threepenny, but liked Miss Lauper.  Very happy for Beth Leavel - when I ran into her at the theater when I was there making details to record the overture, I told her I thought she was terrific and that she'd get nominated.

I don't know about using his guitar in his act, but he is a stand up comedian.  A friend of mine brought a group of his high school students to see the show and was surprised to find out that they were all Stephen Lynch fans from his acting/comedy.

That's HIM...he has an astounding comedy act that he totally sings accompanying himself on guitar.  It's in the form of telling a story to kids....with "bad" parts....it's totally hysterical, IMO.

I thought the same thing.  I really didn't listen to much of what they had to say if they looked too prepared

Actors are by essence "parrots" and they'd better prepare their speech; when they don't they tend to make fools of themselves!
That way, they're less tempted to go on and on!

Sophie Marceau (Who?!) once ridiculed herself at a Cannes Film Festival!

The first time I went to the Tony's Rosie O'Donnell was the host, and she told the funniest and most off-color jokes during the commercials.  It was great, and really kept the evening moving along cause that is a long time to sit without using the bathroom.

Nothing like "bathroom jokes" to avoid going to the bathroom itself! :D

I don't know if it's cold anywhere else in California...but I've closed my balcony door and my windows...and I have a fire going in my fireplace.

It's cozy...but it's also JUNE!

But why do the song if they're not going to do the song?  There is just no life in this Tony broadcast.

The supporting actor from Jersey Boys seemed very emotional and then not.

The number from "Phantom" was a total misfire, IMO.

McGillin obviously sang the "...touch..." by accident.  And where was the orchestra on that last note he sang...it should have snuck up under him and ended the song.  It just lay there....like so much years-old fish.

Richard Griffiths, best actor in a play had a good speech...and he was the first so far (only?) person to be played off with music.

Janis Paige looks good.

I'd read that The Pajama Game is a limited run, and that they want to bring it back next season...but probably without Harry.  I wonder if Michael Cavanaugh, who played piano for Movin' Out could play the role.  He certainly can play the piano.

I thought Cynthia Nixon's speech was a bit much...and she was telling the audience what the award was for...like we didn't know she was in a play and that this was the Tony awards!

And who was that she kissed before getting out of her seat?  Couldn't tell if it was a he or a she.
