I considered tipping him $20 to stop playing for 15 minutes.

I appreciate soothing music with meals.  But this dude was tripping the heavy fantastick....and my Vietnamese chicken rice bowl is still dancing in my tummy.

My 20th-Fox "Clark Gable Vol. 1" box arrived today.  I'm very much looking forward to "Call of the Wild" and "Soldier of Fortune."

Given BK's remarks about "The Tall Men," I am anticipating that one, too.

BIG BROTHER.

RE: janelle winning queen of the prom.Yes, but people paid to text their votes for queen. The other categories were all online.

People paid and were told the winner would get an advantage in the hoh comp. If mike boogie can get the power to change the hoh noms. Then why not bend the rules here if the winner was the current hoh.

I think the fact that people paid to vote should have meant that the winner got something. I don't find a crown to be anything.

Even if they let her transfer the power to howie.

Maybe I feel this way because I don't like Janelle.

BB7 SPOILER:

James used the POV on himself.  Howie was nominated to stand beside Erika.

Lots of talk going on in the house....James claims he won't vote for Howie...Boogie and Will claim they will...they've changed their minds about evicting Erika.

They think the eviction might be as early as tonight (Julie said last night that it would be live on Sunday).

James is freaking out over the possibility that Janelle might win HOH again.

Meanwhile....it's still a "normal" day here in Oakland...the marine layer is firmly in place overhead...the air is very cool.

Maybe I feel this way because I don't like Janelle.

May be....but Julie never said Janelle, or anyone else, would be ineligible because she was HOH.

She made the claim about the winner earning an advantage. And we fans text-messaged our votes.

And then nothing happened.

That's a renege.

This is from an email my Dad sent me today....lol,

Quote
Two major events here:
     1. The trees around the library have about 40 parakeets & cockatoos flying around in them. They escaped from a box when being moved from a pet shop.

    2. Latest word is that a St. Bernard will be the ringbearer at (a friend of the family's) wedding. (I'm taking my camera).

LOL, Jrand - almost sounds like a chapter from A Short History of a Small Place (I think that's the title)

DR Cillaliz - we have some strange birds outside (and inside) my library, too, but they're not parakeets and cockatoos!

DR Jose -

Jh's twin is also very cute, but he and JH don't look alike at all. He just recently celebrated one year of wedded bliss with his wife and is working on being the next Clark Kent...well that is if Clark Kent did film reviews and humor columns..

Is it just me?  Or....does anyone else NOT recall their grade school lunch lady?

I certainly remember mine - Mrs. Culp.

And we had those fabulous yeast rolls in elementary, junion, and senior high. It must have been a city-wide recipe.

After the Philly Art Museum, we walked down the hill to the Rodin Museum where Woody gave a lecture:

We went to the Franklin Institute where Wooyy saw an Animation exhibit.

We then caught the PFlash

for a ride Downtown to Tower and then Borders - then a short walk to the Restaurant.

Seen on the walk:

I started my afternoon with a MUPPET SHOW episode, this time with Gene Kelly as the star. Not as much fun as the Elton John or Julie Andrews shows, but it was OK. Kelly was pretty much past it as a performer by the time this show was taped.

Mmmm, that sounds good!  We have a place here in SW Ohio called Dad's that makes a great one - maybe we'll go there for dinner tonight or tomorrow.

Next came FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. I haven't watched this movie in many, many years, certainly not since getting the larger screen TV, so I was curious how the transfer would look after all this time.

Surprisingly good! It's an old MGM transfer though it is anamorphic, and about 90% of it looks just fine. Sharp with very good color. But there was some print damage particular during Leonard Frye's scenes and song, and grain and some speckles did pop up here and there.

Still, looked better than I was expecting and the sound was really lush and full. No wonder this won an Oscar for Best Sound.

Of course, there are new episodes of MONK and PSYCH tonight I'll be watching, and I still have about 35 minutes of FIDDLER to watch. It's a long film, and I was interrupted during its viewing having to take care of some household duties.

A quick hello because it is POURING down rain as I type this.  I had to put my lap top into a plastic bag and pray it wouldn't get wet.

I thought I was going to have to turn into a salmon and swim upstream to catch the bus!

Ahhh, summer time in sunny Florida--Ya gotta love it!
