Yep, I enjoyed the first episode very much, and the last scene threw me for a loop - totally unexpected.

Saving the best for last was Showtime's DEXTER, a really offbeat and out there drama. Michael C. Hall is nothing like his persona on SIX FEET UNDER, and seeing him in this complete turn about from that show took a little bit of time to get used to. He's utterly diabolical, and yet you're pulling for him. Very unusual scenario. Recommended if you have a taste for something really unique.

The "Tribe" apparently are dissatisfied with the food bowl offerings - a carton of 10 eggs was liberated from the counter and enjoyed by all - (I first noticed same when Mikey was making strange crunching sounds!)

Yes - shells and all!

I've been caught up in the news from Nickel Mine, PA, about the screwed-up milkman who just killed several girls in an Amish schoolhouse, payback for something that happened 20 years ago?  What the hell?

George, best of luck today! I hope things go well!

The last closing I had was last year. We bought our house from a gambler/fire eater. He wrote the book on it...literally!

http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Eating-Instruction-Ben-Mack/dp/0917643127/sr=1-4/qid=1159780947/ref=sr_1_4/104-3690825-7372744?ie=UTF8&s=books

He did card tricks to entertain us whenever the closers ran off to xerox something. This guy was a dream to deal with, but knowing he was a champion poker player made us wonder if he used any of his bluffing abilities when we were negotiating the price!

May your closing go as smoothly (and magically!)

Thanks a lot!

IT'S OFFICIAL!!  I'M A CONDO OWNER!!  The woman at the title company said that the mortgage company was so easy to work with...and they had a lot less pages for me to sign and/or initial.  But it's all done now and I can start moving in!  If anyone wants my new address, just send me an e-mail (that would be easier than a PM, and I won't yet have to empty my PM mailbox). ;D

I'm heading down now to finish another chapter on Eileen Heckart, clean the dining room, and then get to a DVD before prime time TV kicks in.

Congrats, DR George!

Re the TOD - Busy getting ready for Canada, so I haven't read all the posts. Perhaps it's been mentioned already, but the incomparable Jane Jacobs' THE DEATH AND LIFE OF GREAT AMERICAN CITIES is essential reading on the subject.
(I used to see Ms. Jacobs striding down the streets of Toronto. Always wanted to stop her and talk, but never did, alas.)

I've been talking with a film fan at the Home Theater Forum who made a dub of the German R2 version of JOHNNY GUITAR. He claims it is far and away superior to the version Encores has been showing for the past year (which I dubbed to DVD-R since it didn't look like an official R1 release was going to arrive any time soon).

I want to take the DVD-R out tonight and watch selected scenes to compare how they look to the screen caps he posted on the net today. They did look wonderful, but I seem to think my DVD looks very good, too.

For your consideration:

Strained Eyeballs

Bone Appitite

Thanks!  That's a great idea, but I don't know if they want to actually make their own goodies to sell at the show.  However, here at work, we're going to have a Halloween party.  I may make these myself for that! ;)

Congrats to dear reader George!

This theremin was purchased from a well-liked Theremin dealer on eBay, located in Brazil.  It's just a box with an antenna - nothing like the weird machine of old.  Can't wait to try her out.  I did see the Theremin doc and thought it splendidly splendid.

I picked up some interesting-sounding 1969 Japanese movie that carries my favorite parental warning ever:  WARNING: This film contains violence and philosophy.

Violence and Philosophy - wasn't that a singing duo from the 60s?  I think they had a hit with "Beat Me, Kierkegaard."

However, here at work, we're going to have a Halloween party.  I may make these myself for that! ;)

Or:

Cauldron Cheese Dip

Quote

Notes:
You can’t go wrong with everyone’s favorite cheese dip! By using a premade bread bowl found at most grocery stores, you can add something special to this dish.

Ingredients:
1 lb. Velveeta Cheese
1 can Rotel Tomatoes
1/4 C. milk (optional)

Preparation:
Cube cheese and place into either a medium size pan or a crock pot. Heat on low. Add milk and Rotel Tomatoes. Heat until all in warm. Take a bread round and cut out a hole deep enough to place in cheese dip. Pour in cheese dip and serve.

I'd probably go with some other cheese choice, but the easy presentation is a plus!

I bet A Dollar Store would sell the little crawly critters!

And "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" is the next Netflix movie that I'm going to watch!  It arrived last week.

Well, he's 32, so there goes the "What the hell is wrong with today's kids" line.

A. Alex, I'll take Revenge for $500
