A very interesting evening at Human Race Theatre Company. The Ambition Bird, book/music/lyrics by Matthew Sheridan is a (mostly) one-woman show about the poet Anne Sexton. I was very glad I'd read up on Sexton beforehand, because those who had not had some difficulty following what was happening. The production was a "staged reading," so the performers were on-book much of the time. There was a Q&A after the 75-minute production, during which Sheridan talked about the development of the piece, the director talked about staging and such, and Kay Bosse, who plays Anne, talked about her preparation.

Just got back from an excellent event at the Lamb's Club, the premiere screening of a Jerry Herman documentary: "Words and Music by Jerry Herman." It was well done, very sweet and simple in its presentation. Several folks who have played roles in Jerry Herman shows over the years were there. As were Marge Champion and Don Pippin who contributed some fantastic super-8 footage of HELLO WORLD, MAME and DOLLY to the film.

DR Rodzinski - thanks for the heads-up on this. It sounds like your evening was far more upbeat than mine! Lamb's is where DH Richard, DR Elmore, and I saw the musical Snoopy! 'way back in 1982.

Oh, and thanks for remembering that I'm a Tom Brady fan. Hated to see him lose yesterday, but I'm glad for the Colts and will be cheering for them on Feb. 4.

Thanks Ginny. Although your night sounded interesting as well. As for Brady, a lot of people can't stand him because he wins a lot and dates supermodels, but my only problem with him was the Colts couldn't beat him in the playoffs. Now we have that behind us.

I spent the early part of the evening finishing MISSION IMPOSSIBLE on Blu-ray that I started last night. The picture is really quite a big step up from the standard definition release, and as I really enjoy the film, I'm glad to have it.

Today, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND arrived on Blu-ray so I'll probably watch that tomorrow at some point.

I liked THE CLASS tonight, too. As always, Jesse Tyler Ferguson's innocent character stole the show from the others with his trying to keep secrets causing major trouble.

'24' had another episode loaded with a couple of bombshells that took me completely by surprise. Not as much breathless action this week as last, but certainly plenty of things happening to keep one's attention riveted.

I recorded HEROES while I was watching '24,' and then watched HEROES at 10 (while CSI: MIAMI and STUDIO 60 were recording). Excellent episode with the usual twists and turns that keep us all off-kilter.

Did I miss something, or did we know Hiro's power was fading before tonight's show? So, part of his efforts now are to get this sword which is supposed to restore him to full power, right? Have other heroes noticed a diminution of their abilities or is Hiro the only one?

Well, plot B this week involved a nude picture of MArshall that everyone laughed about. Barney got the idea that at 31, he's at his peak and should be immortalized by Lily on canvas. Of course, she doesn't want to do it, but he pays her $10,000 to do it, and for that price, we got to see Neil Patrick Harris (who has a nice body with next to no body fat) in the almost-nude for a sequence. And there was a funny sight gag as Marshall saw his butt as Barney/Neil stooped over to pull off his boxers.
