Ginny, I think Fantasticks should still be running. It's available on the half-price ticket booth but that's no indication of good or bad business, most shows appear at the booth at some point. I haven't heard any news about any closing so I think you'll be able to see the show.

And with former "American Idol" contestant, Anthony Fedorov, stepping into the role of Matt...  Lots of AI folks "on the boards" this season.  For better or for worse.

*There was a mention in some article about Constantine Maroulis showing up at every single theatre-related event in NYC lately.  Very funny slight.  -Now if I can just recall where I read that.

CATS and MICHAEL FLATLEY are coming to Indianapolis, but they are in separate shows.
Just wondering...if the companies got confused and switched theaters inadvertently...would the respective audiences notice?

DR Ben (or other New Yorkers) - speaking of the half-price booth, how's the construction coming along on the new facility?  Are they still in the temp quarters?

DR singdaw - I've had variations of Paula Deen's "Better Than Sex" Cake.  Usually with chocolate pudding.  It's not bad, but I'm not sure I'd truly qualify it as "better than sex".  Although, that may all depends upon one's experience.  Or lack thereof.

In any case...  The one Paula Deen recipe that I think is truly over the top are her Gooey Butter Cakes - which is basically a box of cake mix and two sticks of butter melted.  Sort of like a "Dump Cake" but without the canned fruit filling.

DR JoseSPiano, didn't mean to mislead, but when I typed New York, I meant the state, not the city!  I'm in Westchester, but only about a half hour out by train.

I-29 just opened last night. Checking the IDOT website, it looks like the road is normal for all but the last 20 miles and that is partially snow covered. So, it's not too bad. I'm hoping that maybe they will get the rest of it cleaned off today.

Jose, Nope, don't speak French to any proficient degree.  Many translators/adapters don't speak the language of the plays they adapt.  Often they are given a literal translation of the play and work from that or...as in my case...I digested and referred to four different translations of the play and, from those, did a version (freely adapted) in my own words.

Gotcha.

Are you keeping the French(?) version of a scene where a scene equals anytime a character enters of exits the stage?  I remember studying some Moliere plays in high school, and the initials growns that went up from the class - myself included - when Mrs. Kammerer gave the class the assignment, "Please read and summarize the first 12 scenes for tomorrow." -Well, that basically ended up being only about 20 pages of text.  C'etait vrai, n'est-ce pas?

I really don't think I'm going to have any trouble getting home at all. I was very lucky leaving the day before the storm and returning the day after the road was opened.  Don't think I could have planned that if I tried

I really can't wait to see the cats though. I haven't left them for this long in ages and Callie hasn't had one of her medications since I left. The vet thought it would be ok for 5 days and well, this is day 5, so I really want to be sure she's ok.  She won't let my cat sitter give her pills, but does let her give her the liquid

Levain Bakery

It's on 74th between Columbus and Amsterdam.  And they're open until 7:00pm each day of the week.

Well, it's about time for me to do a couple of errands and then try to rendezvous with my family in Cincinnati.  By the time I get back, DR Cillaliz should be safely home and another Danny and Sandy will be history.

Bye for now!

Well, just keep your eyes here on this board, as I suspect another HHW Eating and Walking and Eating and Walking Tour will be shaping up sometime in June.  And maybe even another one in October.

-With all the walking involved, it basically becomes a "negative calorie" activity.

And in my "defense" as it were, any time I have made trips to a bakery for my own culinary satisfaction, I always make sure said excursion is either preceded and/or anteceded(?) by a good walk.

They're still in temp quarters over at the Marriott Marquis.  *I'm just waiting to see what kind of madhouse that's going to be once the Spring and Summer theatre-going season kicks into high gear.  -Although, it really wasn't that bad last summer, so..  In any case...

There's something going on behind the construction walls.  Although, it seems they took a break over the past couple of weeks -maybe because of the weather?, I dunno.  There is one part of the initial "shell" that you can see, but that's about it.

AND...on a totally different subject...

WHY has not Rita Moreno's "Googie Gomez" of The Ritz been preserved forever on silver disc?
