I-29 just opened last night. Checking the IDOT website, it looks like the road is normal for all but the last 20 miles and that is partially snow covered. So, it's not too bad. I'm hoping that maybe they will get the rest of it cleaned off today.

I-29 opened here yesterday morning and I did hear it was much later in the day for parts of SD.

Hope you are well in Chicago.

Wrote a page - may write more, may not.  Later I'll definitely watch Infamous and then When A Woman Ascends The Stairs, a Japanese film that I've been wanting to see.

I picked up a cheap copy of Infamous - was this made at the same time as Capote and then held for release?

VARIETY thinks so.

Held back for a year to distance it from "Capote," which deals with the same period in the writer's life, "Infamous" inevitably won't escape comparison with the earlier film.

Good Afternoon!

I'm back from a trip down to Union Square.  No bakeries this time, just the Trader Joe's Wine Shop.  We were running low on reds in the rack here, so...  An Australian, a Chilean, a Californian, and an Italian.

-Too bad they're bottles of wine and not soccer players.  Ah, well...

Oh, and I also made a stop at the Container Store to pick up some mailing supplies since I have some Sparkling Prizes to mail out tomorrow.  -Well, if not tomorrow, then next Monday - but I'm going to try my best to get them out tomorrow.  I would mail them Tuesday, but...

I GOT THE CALL!!!

(about five minutes ago!)

So, since it's now official...

I will be the rehearsal pianist for the other post-Ebb Kander & Ebb musical, All About Us (formerly known as Over and Over, and Skin of Our Teeth.  This will be for the upcoming production up at Westport Country Playhouse.

So, not only will I be getting to play for the wonderfully talented - and amazingly well-connected - Patrick Vaccariello (who's the musical supervisor and conductor for the current revival of A Chorus Line - and the venerable John Kander, but the cast includes Tony winners Cady Huffman and Shuler Hensley, and the still sensational Eartha Kitt(!).

So, needless to say, there's quite a smile on my face right now.

Thanks again to everyone for their Good Vibes and Wishes.

Oh.. and first rehearsal is Tuesday morning at 10:30... So, that's why I'm gonna try my best to get everything in the mail tomorrow... before I start rehearsals on Tuesday and head to Atlanta on Wednesday.

-It's gonna be very interesting to be there for the first day of rehearsal, then leave for the rest of the week, then come back a week later, and continue from there.

DR elmore - Patrick sends his best.  As for the orchestrations, Bill Brohn will be supplementing Michael Gibson's original charts from the Signature Theatre production.

There was also a coming attraction of a film about this kid who is under house arrest. He is not allowed to go beyond a certain distance or he will get arrest and go to jail. He gets bored and starts looking into other peoples homes with binoculars. He then thinks he sees a murder.

Gee I think the film was once called Rear Window.

;D What is the film so I can be sure to miss it.

edisaurus, believe me, from what I've heard, you don't want to see this "production" of Camelot.  Its director is known for "recreating" the work of better people, and there are several of the show's songs cut.

I'm looking forward to seeing INFAMOUS when it finally shows up on pay cable. I won't shell out any money to rent/buy it until I sampled the goods, but it got very good reviews.

It's not by any means a bad movie, but it's not as good as CAPOTE.  I definitely think it's worth renting.

Warning, long post ahead:

And I LOVED reading it! I love radio too. I also love Radio 2! You're right, the US radio is pretty uninspiring; that's why I started listening to short wave years ago. The internet has taken the place of that.

There is a radio station up in your parts that I do love: WFMU, which broadcasts from NJ. They play a lot of weird stuff and some fantastic stuff, especially on Irwin Chusid's show.

I would love to be on your list and will send you my email address. I look forward to hearing the show!

edisaurus - sadly, the Goldsmith score has never been available, although heaven knows I've tried to pry it out of Paramount.  They simply cannot be bothered.

Well, I'll order the DVD at least.

The DVD is great and it has a commentary by Frankenheimer and the long version (with complete nudity) of the wine stomping ceremony.
