Last night's "House":

Some very disturbing imagery for me....the scene where he administers his own catheter.

Congrats, Edi.  Lovely review.  Can't do the very late show on Friday, so I just bought for the 5:00 show, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that work won't prevent me from going - but I'm assuming buying helps the box office tally even if the person doesn't end up going, right?  :)

Buying absolutely helps!

I will be there when the 5PM show lets out, just in case!

DR MISS KAREN this seems to be what DR derBRUCER was talking about....you can almost see it...

a frame of some kind of floating material and net (you can almost see it) on the bottom...although this has some kind of frame work as well.

Old life rafts used to have small structures erected on them and were towed by a long cable attached to a small boat and used for target practice by the bigger boys.

I got my friend to the airport in record time. He showed me a short cut I didn't know existed, and we saved at least five minutes from our commute time. Nothing to worry about, though, since I was 10 minutes early picking him up.

I began my afternoon of viewing watching last night's LAW & ORDER: CI which had two mysteries, one concerning a murder of a judge's son (judge played by the always wonderful John Dossett). The other concerned regular cast member Julianne Nicholson's long missing father who may or may not be dead. This will be ongoing.

LAW & ORDER: SVU had a plot concerning the murder of a male prostitute. Tim Daly, another superlative actor, played an evangelical minister with ties to the prostitute. The story veered off into some unexpected territory and there was a surprise murderer I didn't see coming. A very enjoyable episode.

I completed my afternoon with the last film in the new W.C. Fields box, NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK. This was the second Fields movie I ever saw on a double bill with THE BANK DICK at a revival theater here in town that is no longer in existence.

The plot is one crazy thing after another with Gloria Jean songs, a wacky (and hilarious) car chase, Margaret Dumont living high atop a mountain, and a gorilla running rampant. I love it because it makes no sense whatsoever and doesn't care. There are continuity errors all over the place, and who cares? It's just fun all the way through.

The transfer has a few scratches and some other damage, but on the whole looks fine. Glad to have this in my collection now.

Thanks for posting it, EDI. I didn't say anything because I assumed you planned to do so.

Another question for ASK BK day:

(and for the DR's)

Do you go to bed and keep your eyes open waiting to fall asleep OR do you go to bed and close your eyes waiting to fall asleep?

I just saw an article yesterday say that the big main Jewish theology school in New York has announced that they will now accept openly gay & lesbian students.

Quote
Chancellor-elect Eisen's Letter to the Community
•March 26, 2007
To the JTS Community:

I write to announce that, effective immediately, The Jewish Theological Seminary will accept qualified gay and lesbian students to our rabbinical and cantorial schools.

This matter has aroused thoughtful introspection about the nature and future of both JTS and the Conservative Movement to a degree not seen in our community since the decision to admit women to The Rabbinical School nearly twenty-five years ago. Convictions and feelings are strong on both sides. Some will cheer this decision as justice long overdue. Others will condemn it as a departure from Jewish law and age-old Jewish custom. One thing is abundantly clear: after years of discussion and debate, heartfelt and thoughtful division on the matter is evident among JTS faculty, students, and administration. The same is true of professionals and lay leaders of the Conservative Movement. For many of us, the issue runs deep inside ourselves.

We believe that the law can be modified, and therefore should be modified, in accord with our society's changed knowledge about and moral attitudes toward homosexuality, knowledge and attitudes far different than those of our ancestors that guided their reading of law and tradition. Core Jewish teachings such as the imperative to treat every human being with full respect as a creature in God's image urge us strongly in this direction. We do not alter established belief and behavior casually. But we are convinced that change in this case is permitted and required, precisely in order to preserve the tradition charged with guiding us in greatly altered circumstances.

Wow! That list is full of hostility! I've been investigating.  It's like an evil sci fi film "When Queens Collide!"  The two Stevies are quite busy there.
