Bet that gem really sucked.
Very good, TCB. It took me a minute, though. My fault, not yours.

“One From the Heart” raises money to buy gifts and books for over 44,000 abused and neglected children who are receiving services, such as foster care, along with the 200,000 children that receive emergency services through the Department of Children and Family Services of Los Angeles County, the largest government agency in the world that provides child protective services.
This event is a grassroots effort by the social workers who on a daily basis confront situations where children need to be removed from dangerous family conditions. These social workers and their supporting staff want to help meet the emotional, social and intellectual needs of children in crisis, over and above what the County can provide. While the County can meet the basic needs of many of the children, it cannot provide many of the things that enhance self-esteem and help prepare these children to lead productive adult lives. Certain kinds of gifts, called “comfort toys”, can help reduce a child’s immediate anxiety. Besides comfort toys, the “One From the Heart” event helps purchase books and other gifts, designed to increase the level of literacy and opportunity for these deserving, yet underserved children. Many of these gifts are given to children during the winter holiday season.

That's right up your alley, TCB, no?!

Good evening. Long day. I was up at 5:00AM went to Sioux Falls, sat through a good in the am/boring in the PM seminar and then drove to my parents' house.  Saw jhvw at dinner. He's off with a "friend" and my niece Samantha. I'm about to go to sleep.  Night.

Boy, it's gonna be a doozy of a weekend.  I have work tonight until around 7 tomorrow morning, the Spring Awakening audition starting at 11 tomorrow morning, then I am seeing Wicked with my aunt and cousins at 2 tomorrow, then I go into work at 11:30 tomorrow night, work until most likely 9 on Sunday morning, after which I have the Cabaret audition starting at noon on Sunday, and then round the weekend off with another night of work from 9:30 until 2 am...then I get to finally come home and sleep...Hee-hah!

How nice to be young!

I'm listening to the Twiggy CD...I absolutely love Elmore's orchestrations. Brilliant and beautiful!

Twiggy's voice leaves a little to be desired on songs like "Long Ago", but it was nice just to have it, since HALF A SIXPENCE is one of my faves.

I began my evening with DEJA VU, a sci-fi love story/thriller starring Denzel Washington. One must really suspend his disbelief for this, and I'm always game if the story is interesting enough. I found it intriguing enough for most of the running time, but then I felt it kind of fell apart for me at the end, very much like THE LAKE HOUSE fell apart with its ending.

Involving sound on the transfer; visuals were above average but not always as solid as I would have liked. I'll bet the Blu-ray would look great on this. I had the standard definition version.

Also started watching the main special feature on the disc - a combination running commentary and featurette section with seamless branching from the main feature. First time I've seen anything like this (I know the Infinfilms like THIRTEEN DAYS did something similar), and it's cool.

Watched tonight's RAINES in the 10 p.m. hour. Good episode with the investigation of a judge's wife's murder. Didn't have the murderer pegged at all, and the information we got about the wife in bits and pieces was really surprising.

TOmorrow, I'll finish the special features on the DEJA VU DVD (there are some deleted and extended scenes). Then, I'll watch (and burn a DVD) TEXAS CARNIVAL.
