Yes, I'm very disappointed about the definite cancellation of VERONICA MARS, and I will pick up the DVD boxed sets when I can find them on sale at a reasonable price. What a pleasure that show has been for three years.

What's even more disappointing is how Rob Thomas had to change the show for the CW (in order to try to save it). When they probably had no intention of ever renewing.

I also don't like that that woman Dawn seemingly lied at the upfronts about the show being cancelled.  At least tell it like it is.

The thing is if she had said the show was cancelled weeks ago she probably would have had loads of angry mail.

I'd like to do a little song for you now...
So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song...

As it turns out, Joan didn't write down the name of the second chosen song from two days ago - which means it's gone, because I don't remember what it was other than it was a good choice.  I don't think it was anything she had music for either, I think we found it on the Internet.  So, unless Bos remembers (and his memory isn't that good), we're sunk with whatever it was, unless she wrote it on a different piece of paper.  I mean, I asked her THREE times if she'd written it down.  I'm really angry about it because it's torture trying to make these choices.  I have made a CD with eleven songs, and if we don't choose at least four from it, then I may walk.

SPOILAGE

I, too, was pleased with the season finale to "Ugly Betty."

I don't know from NYC/environs locales, so the rush to a medical facility/car crash was not a distraction for me.

LOVED the "West Side Story" segment.  I just KNEW they'd do somethng...and to have Justin wrangle himself out of understudying to going on -- just by adding walnuts to his chicken salad and somehow tantalizing the allergic-to-walnuts lead into swapping sandwiches -- was just icing on the cake.  That's one talented kid.

As Elmore indicated last night, there were plenty of plot lines in motion during the show.  Not a dull moment, actually.

Also loved the "hug" between Mark and Wilhelmina!

"Grey's Anatomy", on the other hand, has begun to BUG me.  Yes, "bug" me.  I don't get the Izzy obsession with George.  Just don't get it at all.  Never have.  Friends, yes.  But physical attraction -- especially after Izzy lost her true love, Denny -- has never rung true for me.

I'm so over Meredith Grey I could barf.  She's always been my least favorite character.  It's too bad the show is named after her.  I like the actor who plays him, but McDreamy is more McDreary these days.

What I DO want to know is this:  With these new interns, will the "new" Grey become a focal point?  Will George decide to do another stint as an intern?  Will the story revolve around all the newbies, or will we be following Meredith?

Callie as Chief doesn't ring true for me, either.

That was a nice "Lost" recap last night, as well.

Does it give anyone else "pause" that the creators/writers of the show admit they don't "know" what the true nature of the island is??????

I had kind of a tough night last night. A dear friend's cat (19 years old) has been very ill and she thought she would be putting him to sleep today, so I went over to her apartment to see him one last time. I knew it would be tough to see him in such bad shape but I wanted to be there for him, and my friend.

I had bonded with this cat ever since rescuing him after he escaped when my friend moved to LA. I went to the nearby house he was hiding under several times a day, before and after work and during my lunch hour and managed to catch him by the end of the week. I took care of him until I could put him on a plane to fly to his mommy.

My friend has since moved back here and I have always enjoyed going to her place and visiting Jack and Thomasina. (Thommy is the same age as Jack but she seems to be OK right now.)

Last night I brought Jack some roast beef from Arby's---that was the last food that my 20 year old cat would eat, and DH and I had sat by his side and shared it with him, sort of a "last supper" the day before he died. Jack couldn't eat it, but he stroked my hand with his paw as if to say thank you for the gesture. It was the only voluntary movement he made while I was there, but I also noticed his tail wagging slightly as I held him.

I stayed until about midnight. We took turns holding Jack and keeping him warm. While I was holding him he started to make the sounds that I remembered my ancient one made before he passed on (he had renal failure, too, and had been on sub-cu fluids for several years.) so I handed Jack back to my friend and soon he died in her arms. It was hard to see it because it brought me back to going through that with mine, But I was very glad I was there and she didn't have to go through this alone, and I'm especially glad that Jack wasn't alone.

I'd brought a bottle of champagne with me, and after we'd sat there for awhile, I called my friend's sister and downstairs neighbor and they came over for a mini-wake. My eyes are still burning from crying so much but I was sure glad I went over.

So has anyone else seen those new commercials for Hellman's/Best Foods Mayo?  Quite an interesting "twist", I'd say.

Hmmm...I'm not too happy to hear that.  But still, at least they know where they are going with the show, which is heads and tales over David Lynch and Mark Frost admitting they were making up TWIN PEAKS as they were going along.

RE: last night's season finale of UGLY BETTY

SPOILERS

The whole shooting thing was extremely sad. And betty having to tell hilda. Very sad.

But we don't really know if he's dead, do we?  I mean we didn't hear what she said. I understand the set up leaves us to believe he's dead, but it's possible he's still alive. Right?

Isn't it nice to know that Portland and the Seattle-Tacoma area, both home locales of some of our most popular Hainsies/Kimlets, are on the courteous list!

Would you expect anything less?? ::)

I don't think hilda would have broken down like that unless he was dead.

I don't think they would have sent the police like that unless he was dead.

I suppose they could do anything.  But i think the story fits better if hilda and son are at home with betty.  And i think that it was implied that he was dead.

The actor was on the show DRIVE, so i had just assumed he left the cast. But since that show was cancelled ... but still. I just really think he's dead.
