I heard from our E&T DR Miss Karen today.and truant.  She says she's been away for "any reasons, many lame and not so lame, excuses. But nothing personal and nothing to do with HHW -- I've missed you all terribly and I'll be back with a gratuitous posting frenzy here shortly. I've been in and out of town a bunch which keeps me off the net a lot -- and I'm down to the wire with all my final stuff of my first semester -- most coo-koo at this point. I'm surprised the men in white coats have not been by to cart me off to Happy Haven...but to quote Ah-nold: 'I'll be baa-ck!'"

However, I have no idea of what happened to DR Brettyspaghetti.  Neither of my PMs have been answered.

As Noel Coward would say, "That is the end of the news."

Ah, that's the view coming from the north.  The pic I posted earlier was from the south.

I posted the "Grant" view, you the "Lee".

(And both quite lovely!)

For those of you who remember.  "Return to OZ" was very much a favourite of young OzDerek. I'm still in contact with his sister Maureen a few times each week and Derek's Bears are still very much part of the family here.

Michael Ball will be appearing in a London production of "Kismet" in June. As will be Faith Prince.

(apologies if that has already been posted).

"Kismet" wil be staged at "The Coliseum" which is an enormous theatre recently refurbished. It is better known as a home for Ballet and Opera.

As I recall, last year he kept the wrapper.

My favorite way to eat fruit is in a cobbler, like the one at Joe Allen.

I once knew a fruit named Joe Allen, and I believe he was a cobbler.

Is anyone having a problem connecting?  I'm not, and obviously there's a lot of people here posting, but dear reader Adriana Patti has contacted me and she's telling me that she can't get on here - Safari won't connect, nor firefox.  I'm on Safari right now, no problem, loads very fast, same with AOL.

Has she paid her bill?

Hello!
Tree men finished today.  8 trees!  That was a lot of climbing and cutting. I stayed home, pruned the rose bush,  took the plastic I had up on the gazebo to protect it from the snow, and put up the border in the bathroom.  It is now finished.  Whew!

Police work strikes again!

SPECTOR DEFENSE FOCUSES ON MISTAKES IN COLLECTING EVIDENCE

Quote
LOS ANGELES —  A coroner testifying in Phil Spector's murder trial acknowledged there were crime lab mistakes in evidence collection and handling including moving Lana Clarkson's body, which ended up compromising evaluation of at least one item at the crime scene.

Dr. Louis Pena also said Wednesday during cross-examination by Spector's defense attorneys that medical findings could not determine who held the gun that fired the bullet that killed the actress.

The medical examiner also said criminalists made mistakes in evidence collection and handling, including the loss of a piece of one of Clarkson's teeth.

The missing tooth fragment was among items in an in-house coroner's office memo about concerns in the case.
The memo also said a criminalist used lift-off tape on Clarkson's dress to collect samples of evidence and inadvertently compromised investigators' ability to evaluate blood spatter on the dress.

Pena acknowledged during cross-examination that Clarkson's body was mistakenly moved, causing blood to flow from her mouth, compromising evaluation of her dress for blood spatter.

Gee only Detective Mark Fuhrman is missing!

ANOTHER GUILTY BASTARD BITES THE DUST!

MICHIGAN MAN FINED FOR USING COFFEE SHOP'S WI-FI NETWORK

Quote
A Michigan man has been fined $400 and given 40 hours of community service for accessing an open wireless Internet connection outside a coffee shop.

Under a little known state law against computer hackers, Sam Peterson II, of Cedar Springs, Mich., faced a felony charge after cops found him on March 27 sitting in front of the Re-Union Street Café in Sparta, Mich., surfing the Web from his brand-new laptop.

Peterson, a 39-year-old toolmaker, volunteer firefighter and secretary of a bagpipe band, wanted to use his 30-minute lunch hour to check e-mails for his bagpipe group.

He got on the Internet by tapping into the local coffee shop's wireless network, but instead of going inside the shop to use the free Wi-Fi offered to paying customers, he chose to remain in his car and piggyback off the network, which he said didn't require a password.

He used the system on his lunch breaks for more than a week, and then the police showed up.

A few weeks later Peterson said he received a letter from the Kent County prosecutor's office saying that he faced a felony charge of fraudulent access to computer networks and that a request had been made for an arrest warrant.

The law, introduced in 1979 to protect Internet and private-network users from hackers, and amended in 2000 to include wireless systems, makes piggybacking off of Wi-Fi networks, even those without a password, illegal.

"It wasn't anything we were looking for, and it wasn't anything that we frankly particularly wanted to get involved in, but it basically fell in our lap and it was a little hard to just look the other way when somebody handed it to us," said Lynn Hopkins, assistant prosecuting attorney for Kent County.

Under the statute, individuals who log on to a Wi-Fi network with the owner's permission, or who see a pop-up screen that says it's a public network, can assume they're authorized to use the network, Hopkins said.
If they don't, they could be subject to prosecution.

This must be the same tour that I saw a few months ago.  Ted Neeley was the nicest guy.  All the performers were very good, too. :)
