I read Water for Elephants this week.  I enjoyed it even though parts of it made me cringe.

Your photos from your trip inspired me to take them Laura.

I need to replace my camera!

DR George - did you part the red sea or wage war upon Mars?

I watched the Martians' invasion of our tiny little blue planet set to musical accompaniment. :)

Did you enjoy it?  We loved it but we are very familiar with the concept Cd from the late 70's.

The Theatre Library Award winners for 2007 were the following:

THE MASKS OF ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA by Marvin Rosenberg, completed by Mary Rosenberg, University of Delaware Press

CARTOON MODERN: STYLE AND DESIGN IN FIFTIES ANIMATION by Amid Amidi, Chronicle Books

STILL MOVING: THE FILM AND MEDIA COLLECTIONS OF THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART by Steven Higgins

INGMAR BERGMAN: A REFERENCE GUIDE by Birgitta Steene, Amsterdam University Press

WAGNER AND THE ART OF THE THEATRE by Patrick Carnegy, Yale University Press

LADY IN THE DARK: BIOGRAPHY OF A MUSICAL by bruce mcclung, Oxford University Press

The library system (made up of 27 branches over five counties) where I work only has one of these titles, "CARTOON MODERN: STYLE AND DESIGN IN FIFTIES ANIMATION."  I think I need to submit some "Request for Purchase" forms.

Did you enjoy it?  We loved it but we are very familiar with the concept Cd from the late 70's.

I've had the vinyl album for about 15 years.  Just sitting there and watching it, it was a little too repetitive (musically) for my taste.  I also watched it late at night after a longish day, so I was a bit tired. ::) So, it didn't hold my interest all the way through.  I watched all of the first act but had to turn it off about half way through the second act.  I'll finish it sometime soon.  But I'm glad I got it. :)

I'm jappy to send an estate check to cover any costs.

That's funny--usually Jewish American Princesses are loathe to send checks--they want to receive them.  ;)

Home from the memory-filled Rosedale School party.  It was a retirement party for the building - many former teachers and principals were there, along with many of the current staff.  They're quite melancholy about moving to a new building, but very much looking forward to working in air conditioning.

There was a package waiting for me, too, when I got home - the HHW Birth Date Songs CD!  Thank you, thank you, thank you, DR Tomovoz!

Black tie & tails?
Black tail and green leash.

As der Brucer had anticipated, Marty's heart murmur is kicking in and slowing down his heart's effectivness.  He's got a buildup of fluids in his abdomen, so we'll be taking him back to the vets early tomorrow so he can have the fluids drained.  That and he's got a regimen of meds to take twice a day, and we're switching him from a kibble diet to one of ground meat (beef or lamb) and rice.  (I'm now a doggy chef!)

In any case, Marty's days are numbered.  He's not ready to say goodbye yet, nor are we.  But we know it's coming.

Right now, der B is watching over him as he has his dinner, making sure the other pups don't try to help themselves.

This is sudden.  Marty has only been acting "funny" for the last two or three days.  I'd like to see him last through the summer - but I'm not sure why, if not simply because I need the time to get used to the idea of his not being with us much longer.

He's a good companion, both to der Brucer and me and to the other pups.

I need to stop writing now.
