Question for DRs.

Which "on location" film most made you wish to visit that place. (and did you ever do so?)

After seeing THE PRISONER TV series in Jr. High, I was obsessed with finding the place it was filmed. They never listed the location until the last episode, and since this was pre-VCR, I scrambled to write down the long Welsh name: Portmeirion, Penrhydeudraeth, Wales.

It wasn't until I was in college and discovered Michelin guides that I was able to find it. And that's where I went when I graduated college.

I also went there with my DH once when I had a film at the Latin American film festival in London and we took a special side trip to go there. We also spent some time in the Cottswolds and Oxford, where I showed him some of my favorite Lewis Carroll haunts.

Portmeirion is where I want my ashes scattered. If I go first, at least my DH will have a nice holiday!

I have a friend who tried to drive his Mazda RX-7 through a flooded area (read "creek" or "river") once. He was surprised when it didn't make it. Made a real mess of his car.

Another in the "I can't believe he tried to do that!" file.

Oh, and GOOD MORNING!

I actually have the day off! I take very few days completely off, but this is one of them. Like MUSIC GUY, I've been going through boxes and throwing more out. Haven't I already done this?? I'd SWEAR it clones itself. JOSE, do you find that no matter how much you get rid of you still have the same amount? Too bad it doesn't work that way with money. (Well, maybe for Bill Gates.) In any case, a friend, who's also taking the day off, and I are going to lunch and a movie--GOLDEN DOOR. It'll be fun.

My dad just called and said that American Airlines just notified him (??) that my flight has been cancelled and I've been rescheduled to fly out at 4:00 this afternoon, connecting through Chicago, getting me into Louisville 5 hours later than scheduled.

Jason, have to ever gone to the Humana festival?

I also wanted to go to Norway after seeing THE SONG OF NORWAY, and Istanbul after seeing HAMAM.

Like DR ELMORE and DAN (the MAN), I too had strange dreams and didn't sleep well.

JRAND, do you have an explanation for the three of us? Some sort of planetary pattern?

Add me to the list - I woke up at 4:30am and didn't go back to sleep.  Now I need a nap.

Good morning!

The rain didn't cool things off much last night, and it felt muggy this morning. I am ready for autumn whenever it wants to arrive!

The double subway fare might be a small investment if you could save a couple hundred dollars on your hotel bill.

Thanks for the tip, DR Ben.  That hotel would be comparable in price to the one on 46th St. where I've stayed since 2004.  I'm making myself nuts about this and am still very interested in finding an apartment, Sept. 29-Oct. 7.

Nice that you are sharing part of your rare time off with us, DR Jeanne!  [Or are you avoiding dealing with unwanted clutter, perhaps?  ;) ]  In any case, have a great day!

I will be going to lunch with my best friend from high school, who currently lives clear across the country in Washington state, but is in town, visiting.

My parents are in town from Florida today, so I will be meeting up with them later.  We plan to tour the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  They have a special exhibit right now - "Impressionist and Early Modern Paintings: The Clark Brothers Collection."  Seems these two brothers were rival collectors, and always tried to top the other by adding a new masterpiece to their private rival collections.  We'll probably also go through the new Greek and Roman Galleries.  Then find a bite to eat somewhere.  Should be fun.

I'll finish ELIZABETH today, and then probably watch another Esther Williams movie, likely EASY TO WED. And, of course, MOONLIGHTING.

I also have MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST to watch today, too.

Sounds like a great day planned.  The great thing about best friends from high school is that you can go a long time without seeing eachother, and then as soon as you get together, all the closeness just comes right back.  Have fun today.

Thanks, DR Ben, for the Michael Riedel link. It was an interesting article to be sure. I forget to read him unless he writes something that someone here links us to.

How often does his column appear on the net?

And, of course, RESCUE ME has another new episode tonight. I'm enjoying this season a lot. So far, though there have been some dark moments, it's had much more comedy this season than last.

And, of course, my second flight has also been cancelled. I've been bumped to an 8:30 flight tomorrow morning.

I am not pleased.

ASK BK:

I been to Sunset Strip during the day and during the evening time. Why does it have the rep  it does? (It doesn't seem so special to me)

The Strip, in its heyday, was loaded with exciting nightspots like Ciro's and Dino's and, like most things in LA, has lost its lustre and charm.

My question for ASK BK day....

If there are many scenes in a movie with people coming through the same front door.

Do they do that set up only once and film ALL the entrances for the movie, or do they do they same set up on different days for different actors?

If the entrances involve different actors, then it would be different days, unless they could schedule (doubtful) all those actors on one day.

Ask BK:
What did you get out of yesterday's EPAs?  Who represented Brain in the room?  Planning to call anyone back?

elmore was there, along with Michael Cassara who was overseeing the EPAs, but is also our show's casting director.  He knows exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm sure we'll get some callbacks for my sessions.  But, I'm sure I won't hear anything from him until he's out from under the EPAs.

Of "Dino at the piano" fame?    :)
