Back from another long walk and dinner with a friend at John's Pizza. There was a big street fair (do they do it every Sunday?) on 46th between Broadway and Sixth and then all the way north on Sixth for heaven knows how long. Lots of food stands and way too many people. I visited Virgin, too.
John's, for all the raves, isn't the best pizza I've ever eaten. It's "thin" crust, which isn't my favorite, and while it's very tasty, I've had much better elsewhere. I must also say I will not be returning because I abhor any restaurant that won't seat you until your entire party is there - meanwhile every booth and table gets filled and by the time MY guest got there we were relegated to a tiny table near a staircase, which means I had to stare at people's shoes as they walked up and down.
Why a restaurant has a problem seating the person who IS there and then seating the person or persons who arrive subsequently is something I will never understand - it's just stupid. Instead of seating me at a table so I can relax and order a drink they make me wait - oh, I could sit at the bar (I don't do bar) or on a bench) - I must say, I almost left.
