Bobby Breen. Oh, my. I have a cassette here from a radio show where Deanna Durbin and Bobby Breen performed together. It was clearly in the 1930s as Deanna's soprano was still light without the added maturity that came later. Breen's vibrato is so thick that he sounds almost like an old woman trying to sing at the upper end of her vocal register.

I'm heading back down now to finish the BROTHERS & SISTERS episodes and then get to the bonus features. The bloopers should be fun. There are also deleted scenes which I'm looking forward to seeing.

The cooler weather is such a relief after all the humidity. I even thought about putting on a sweater last night, but didn't.

Marvelous Matt is here--yes, again. We're trying to finish up the last of several small projects. It's amazing how much time small projects take. You expect large projects to take time; somehow I never expect the small ones to take so much.

I know nothing about Mah Jong. I know it was very popular with many Jewish ladies I knew growing up, but I never learned how to play.

***SAFE & QUICK ARRIVAL VIBES*** for Ioana!

Thank you.  The vibes worked.  Her plane even arrived 5 minutes early.

While I was tracking the flight last night the plane suddenly stopped gaining any distance, making me rather nervous until I checked again & the plane had gone backwards.  LOL-at that point I knew it was problems with the site & not that the plane dropped out of the sky.  Keith then went to another site which tracks all flights & we were able to get the correct info. :)

I'm in Heaven!

Well, you have the proper attitude, now we must work on the attire.

You made better upwards progress than I expected.

Well Done

DR Jane - I hope Iona is safe and sound back home by the time you're reading this post.  -Are there any plans for her to come back for a visit over the course of the next year?  Or for Craig to go visit her?

Thank you.

I don't know if there are plans to connect over the winter break, the only time they could get together until he is done with school in May.  She will be done mid-June.  It is very expensive, so we shall see.  I doubt I will know anything until November.

Hmm... "The Emmys" are on tonight...

Who will be watching?  -I think I'm going to be seeing Zorba at The York tonight.

Is it "Live" to both coasts?  Will spoilers have to be posted?

Who do you want to win?  Who should have been nominated?  Who should not have been nominated?

Etc., etc., etc.

Christopher Meloni should have, at least, been nominated for LAW AND ORDER - SUV (or whatever it is called)  He is actually a fine actor and he has had some very impressive story lines the last few years.

As far as school applications are concerned, I applied to eight law school lo these 28 years ago, and there was no real logic to where I was accepted vs. wait-listed vs. rejected.  I got accepted at Harvard (that acceptance oddly came very early and before any other responses, so incredibly that became my "safety school" as other responses came in), Stanford (which actively tried to persuade me to go there after the intial acceptance letter), NYU, Michigan, Chicago - but wait-listed or rejected by Columbia, Cornell and Yale.  Everyone thought it was logical that Yale would be more selective than Harvard, but the folks at my college were stymied by Columbia and Cornell not accepting soemone who was quickly accepted into Harvard.  The Cornell result especially was a mystery to my college's Graduate School placement office rep.  In short, unless you're a sure thing for admission, you want to have choices, and there's no saying what goes through the minds of admissions committees.

I always had a mixtuire of sadness and exhilaration at the end of a show. Sad especially if I loved the show and the people, but usualy happy to have nights to myself without the constant worry over lines, performance, etc.

I usually feel a little bit of sadness at the end of a production, epecially if it has been a wonderful experience (cast-wise or play-wise).  Still that doesn't really explain the last night of HELLO, DOLLY.  When I started to sing the reprise of "Hello, Dolly" to my dear friend Sharry (as Dolly); I looked at her and she was just starting to tear-up.  When we got to the little dance break we were both crying, and when I looked in the wings I could see the rest of the cast there, starting to get a little misty.  By the  time we got to Dolly's entrance in the curtain call, the whole cast was crying.  During the final bow I think we were pretty much holding each other up, and I could see that part of the audience was crying, as well.

Looking back, it was really silly, and rather unprofessional, but it still ranks as one of my most memorable closing nights.
