Yes, last night I did attend the second of Jason Graae's two NYC cabaret appearances at Birdland, "Graae's Anatomy." It was pretty close to sold out. It was
very well received by a great audience. I had a stupid wide grin on my face for the entire set, and at the end my face actually hurt from smiling and laughing so much. He was charming and manic, and besides the laughs squeezed in some heart-stoppingly gorgeous and sensitively sung ballads as well. Some of the set pieces included his West Side Story segment and his Lucky Charms Leprechaun segment and an oboe segment.
The most thrilling moment for me came at the top of the show. Mary Testa and Jim Caruso took the stage to open the show with a parody of Sondheim's "Getting Married Today." Then, at a certain point, Jason appeared in the midst of the audience and started singing - just 2 inches behind my left ear. And HE PUT HIS HAND ON MY SHOULDER - TWICE! before disappearing and popping up in a different section.
Sadly, I had to run to catch my train right after, so could not stay and give him your greetings, DR td.

And again, apologies to DR JoseSPiano for the short notice on the extra ticket.
Oh, and I also sampled my first Little Pie Company Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie last night. I can't say that I liked it BETTER than a Levain's Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, but it was pretty darn amazing.
