Der Brucer has awoked, and probably wants his turn on line.

With the wind blowing through the trees, I think I'll take a nice nap.

Rock-a-bye, and all that.

Oh, BK, you gave me the perfect set-up!

It Is My Pleasure to Announce...

Bruce, those clever, devoted DRs of yours have been up to something special for your birthday. Oh, yes, we've been busy. Your birthday present from the DRs will find you on the evening of Dec 8th.

May it bring you much enjoyment!

:o I wonder what it could be!

Edi, making light of something serious is often a good thing. ;DNetFlix doesn't have it.  I'll check if any I can find it locally.  The plot of "Expiration Date" sounds familiar.  I wonder if you mentioned it before.

I may have mentioned this after I saw it at the festival about this time last year. I will be happy to loan you mine after I receive it if you send me your snail mail address.

The filmmaker hasn't put it on NetFlix because he will make more money selling it and a lot of people have bought it after screenings.

where'd everyone go?

I've been away from my desk, checking computers throughout the building to make sure they have the newer versions of Adobe Reader (why this is my problem remains a mystery, considering we have an overpopulated IT department).

I just get so sick of it.  Bleh.

I am sick of the overly PC sensitivity as well as the right-wingers thinking that every liberal is out to destroy christmas. Why can't we all get along? *sigh*, er, "Oy", or something.

The arrest of the British teacher was ridiculous & scary.  Out of respect for the Muslims around the world who protested & were horrified, I felt the cartoon of the pig naming was inappropriate.

And that's your right.   I love it because its an editorial cartoon...and as such, it has its place in "our" society (freedom of the press, freedom of speech).  It makes some laugh and it makes some cringe.

But just imagine if it existed and we were FORBIDDEN to see it at all.

As a Liberal Christian (!), I, too,  balk at the notion that this PC homogenization is a "liberal" thing and that all liberals are to blame.

There are extremists in both the conservative ranks and the liberal.  And they don't have to be politicians.  Just as there are religious zealots -- like that moron whose flock (blood relatives most of 'em) gather at funerals like Matthew Shepard's and carry signs saying "God hates Fags" and "Matthew Shepard burns in HELL" -- in the ulta-conservative ranks, so, too, are there ultra-liberals who seem to believe this country should cease to be anything other than an alamgam of the rest of the world and that we all should pay to let them destroy U.S. culture in favor of their own.

I have never disrespected/deprived by deed or inuendo ANYone for their religious practices/beliefs -- but when someone else comes into MY country and begins depriving ME of MINE, well I get a bit upset.

Well, if der Brucer is going to be up and about, I think self-preservation is definitely the way to go.

Jrand - True words.  I did a task one year when I had loads of time just to be nice, and the next year, I was told "Don't pass your work off on me."

Christmas shopping is pretty easy for me as we draw names and so there is really only one present that I need to get and it will be a gift certificate to an art store.

Art store? This has got to be a euphemism!

DR Elan, what a darling baby! Congratulations.  How's your wife feeling?

Also, if you go that extra mile on something "hot", it becomes expected that you must do it on everything, even the very mundane.

I'm back earlier than I expected. It's been one of those frustrating days of trying to get around Manhattan that make me wish for another place to live: very slow subways this morning because of a faulty control light somewhere arpound 137th Street. As a result, the trains were moving very cautiously and all the platforms were filled with people waiting. I decided to take a bus and get my perscriptions first thing, and that was a smart move.  I got down to Toyland and had a good time but my intuition kept telling me that enduring hell to get downtown meant I shouldn't have left the apartment.  That thought led to my freaking out about a possible break-in so I accomplished what I could and returned here.  I can do my newspaper searches later.

Oy.
