I had a wonderful afternoon with Charlotte at ENCHANTED and I'm puttering about the apartment triling the "Happy Working Song." Danny Troob's arrangements and orchestrations are spot-on, completely glorious. As a bonus, we noticed SWEENEY TODD posters around the lobby so after the film we went to the box and - sure enough - purchased tickets for the Friday showing at 1 pm. We are both very excited about this turn of events

I am so proud to have gotten so much done today. Had a lovely lunch with dear friend Hal and got some lovely gifts from him and some wonderful surprises in the mail.

I got all my gifts wrapped for both gift exchange dinners on Wednesday and Thursday nights. And I got all this done while enjoying some of my favorite programming.

Yep.  Sweetest natured.  She's not been photographed that much - Magnus is the one who wasn't camera shy.

I began my afternoon of viewing with last night's CSI: MIAMI. The CSIs had a lot of rotten apples to sort through, and all of the suspects seemed damaged. None of them were completely blameless in the death of the CI.

Next, I finished WHITE CHRISTMAS which I had started last night and gotten about 25 minutes into.

This transfer looks OK, but it could certainly do with an update. The technology has improved so much since this was brought over to DVD.

Next up was A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. I didn't get to see any of the network broadcasts this year, so I needed to watch my own DVD copy. Always enjoyable on numerous levels.

I decided to wait until Christmas Eve to watch A CHRISTMAS STORY, so I cued up the 1970 SCROOGE and will watch it when I go back downstairs.

I ended the afternoon viewing by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay characters today, and they weren't in the previews for tomorrow either.

I know I had a reason for popping on at this time (just before lunch, actually), but it's gone clean out of my head.

I had some deep, profound, significant thought to share with you all, and now it is like a wisp of mist drifting into direct sunlight...evaporated all to hell.

I'm sure Miss karen has an appropriate remark.

One of the best things about birthdays here, are MBarnum's birthday cards.  The Raggedy Ann & Andy one is adorable.

I never had one of the dolls.  Who here did?

I had a Raggedy Ann doll once, Jane. Don't know what happened to it.

I <heart> Video Vault.  My dear friend, Mark, loved going there.  They always had all those great Italian horror movies in stock.

For other DRs, Video Vault specializes in cult films and all manner of non-mainstream stuff. they have a website (videovault.com) and will track down hard-to-find films. One of the owners tracked down a copy of MY BROTHER, NIKHIL for me and purchased it, just because I said I heard about it here and was interested.

Back from my doctor's appointment - so much for self-diagnosis and self-medicating.  Turns out that the pills he prescribed for what I had in October, which I've been taking since Saturday, are the exact opposite of what I need for my current ailment  ::)

So, while the new prescription was being filled at Kroger, I picked up a few more stocking stuffers (mostly chocolate).

reading between the lines...
Did you just say that what you really needed was chocolate??

Good Afternoon!

Well, we ended up with at least 26 Equity men, a few straggling Equity women, and a handful of non-Equity men this afternoon.  And what an afternoon it was!  There are no words to describe that parade of talent that came through that door between 2:00pm and 3:15pm.  Well, there are plenty of words to describe what came in and what "happened", but since I'm not one to dwell on the negative.  I'm just sayin'.  ;)

However, one gentlemen who came in turned out to be the former artistic director of the company that gave me my first real, professional job as a musical director.  So that was cool.

The fireplace!!  That would have scarred me too.  Were you watching?  Did you scream?  I would have.

Yes, I watched while they burned  :-[

I did not scream, but I was not a happy camper. Even as a little kid (I was probably 5 or 6 years old) it seemed to me to be rather unneccesary and mean. It wasn't like I even played with them anymore, but I did still enjoy having them.

After that I did keep my favorite toys hidden.

DR elmore - I wish I was in town this Friday to catch "Sweeney Todd" with you.  I do plan to watch down in Richmond, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the crowds down there will not be as big as the crowds up here.  At least I'll have room to stretch out.  ;)

BK, I'm curious as to the title of the Lobo/Buarque you have.  Both Cambaio and Album de Teatro show either collaborative efforts, or solo, at least in terms of the writing.  There's nothing with music by Edu and words by Chico.  I'm wondering if there's something new out or I have something filed somewhere else that I'm not remembering.   ;D

And after the auditions were completed, I walked up to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square and purchased a copy of the "Sweeney Todd" soundtrack.  For some reason, I was expecting the special edition to have two CDs.  Instead, it's just the 80-page book, plus some extra tracks on the CD (to make it "complete".

As an added bonus, it turned out anyone purchasing a copy of the soundtrack also got a copy of the movie poster.  :)

Yep. Once the game demo, bookmarks, and collector cards are removed, the other two releases should fit in there just fine.

Good to know.  -And since that 40%-off coupon is good tomorrow at Border's.... Hmm...
