I had both Andy and Ann! My mother tossed them both into the fireplace when she decided I was too old for them. That incident has scarred me for life.

...And those dolls were made in India by former bodybuilders... As they burned, the spirits of those bodybuilders were carried into the air by the smoke.  Unbeknownst to little Mikey Barnum, as he breathed in some of that smoke, it would plant a seed in him that would begin to germinate many, many years later...

Good to know.  -And since that 40%-off coupon is good tomorrow at Border's.... Hmm...

"My" Border's was already completely out of the Potter giftsets (in both SD and both HD formats) by the time I got there last week with last week's 40% coupon (or maybe it was 2 weeks ago--it was whatever week Potter came out).  I ended up with Young Indiana Jones.  That's one of the reasons I made sure to be there when the store opened today.

I started the new, new director's cut (not to be confused with the previously single-new director's cut  ;D) of Blade Runner.  It looks pretty fantastic, I must say, though I am not looking forward to the "nail through the hand" shot in hi-def.  I could barely stand it in standard def.   :P

MB, I think we had cloned mothers--my mother once took everything I had stashed under my bed for "safekeeping," hauled it across the street to an empty lot we owned, and set fire to it, ostensibly to teach me a lesson about being "neat."  Instead it taught me a lesson about matricidal rage.

Thankfully, I have three "My Border's" within 15 blocks of each other.  Although, the Columbus Circle branch does seem to pretty good with keeping things in stock - and placing a good initial order.

So...  Here's one thing I don't you think you should ever say to anyone behind the table at an audition.

Oh! I know you!  From the gym, right?

And here something you really shouldn't say after you finish singing:

You know, I'm just not a sixteen-bar song kind of guy.

And here's something that crossed my brain a couple of times this afternoon:

You may have just sung "All I Need Now Is The Girl", but what you needed a few seconds ago was a high-F.

I am listening to my Brian D'Arcy James Christmas CD and pondering whether to make reservations at The Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City

or the Safari Inn in Burbank   for my February trip.

Unfortunately, neither place gets very good reviews.

-Excuse me... Which chords and music do you want me to play?  It looks like it was transposed.

Oh, yes it was.

-So, do I follow the written out notes or the chords symbols?

Start it in that key there, then switch there.

-But then that means I'm starting your intro in a different key.

Oh, I know.  I had someone write it out that way for me.

*Needless to say, neither the chicken scratch notes, nor the hard-to-read pencilled in chord symbols were correct.  :-\

So, of course, what I should be doing right now is cleaning, maybe even some laundry, so I don't have to do some of that tomorrow.  Well...  Of course, I'm doing neither right, so... Ah, well.

You're welcome.  So...
When are you going to call me?
I mean it!
When!?!?!

DR Ron Pulliam - Thanks for waving at the Furman campus for me.  I went down there a few times for various music competitions in college.  Beautiful grounds.  And as for Bob Jones University... Strangely enough, they have quite a wonderful collection of Art, including some religious artifacts that the Vatican has been trying to acquire.

I decided to wait until Christmas Eve to watch A CHRISTMAS STORY, so I cued up the 1970 SCROOGE and will watch it when I go back downstairs.

I love love love A CHRISTMAS STORY!

Yes, I do.

DR Jose, get tuned up for Offenbach.  The Bronx Opera is bringing their production of ORPHEE AUX ENFERS to the Kaye Playhouse on Jan 19 and 20.

As long as I don't have to play auditions for it.  ;)

And the perennial classic...

This is a new song that a friend of mine wrote, so I know you don't know it.  It begins here, but then I cut to here.  Then there's a key change there.  And then I fool around with the ending a bit, so just follow me.  OK?

Isn't "matricide" from a Rodgers & Hart lyric?

Cool!

"Sweeney Todd" will be showing at the movie theatre right near my parents' house in Richmond on Friday.  11:15am is the first showing.  I have a feeling I'll be there.

Well, it's actually "mattress-side".

Sir Athelstane indulged in fratricide;
He killed his dad and that was patricide
One night I stabbed him at my mattress side
To keep my love alive,
To keep my love alive.
