Besides hating and persecuting Jews, Blacks, and Gays, and bugging people's phones and doing smear campaigns, what are a couple of other infamous Hooverisms?

I'm sure you can find some things in his Wikipedia listing. :)

The problem is that they will only give me that rate on the 14, 15, and 16th....but I am coming into town on the 10th. So need to locate a place for the first part of the week...thought I would find someplace funky and fun to stay.

I did spot some interesting hotels in the Glendale area...and I have never been there before.

Try the YMCA, DR MBarnum, and make some new friends.  In the lobby, the halls, the showers . . .

Well, I must be leaving.  I can barely stay awake after our holiday potluck lunch, today.  And I got all my time in, so I'm good to go. :)

Until later!

I don't--I can't stand how clean everyone else's house is.   ;D

Around here, DR JMK, the dim lighting conceals a multitude of dust bunnies!

We've discussed this before, a long time ago, but there's a very funny musical about Hoover co-written by Harry Shearer available on LA Theatre Works--J. Edgar!, with Kelsey Grammer as Hoover.  "Mr. Hoover, anarchist on line 3."   ;D

Well, I'm about 3/4 of the way through the new, new director's cut of BR whilst listening to the director's commentary.  He has thus far refused (sometimes in contorted language) to refer to Sean Bean by name.  Every other actor has been named when they're on screen, but Bean is always "that one," "the girl," "her," etc.  What's up with that?  I know Bean had some mental issues vis a vis James Woods, but did she lose it with Scott, too?

Yeah, well we could be in a major blackout in Portland and you'd still be able to see the clutter 'round these parts.   ;D

So many wonderful title songs. In no particular order of preference:

PILLOW TALK

DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES

TEACHER'S PET

GOLDFINGER

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY

THUNDERBALL

GEORGY GIRL

GIGI

STAR!

CABARET

MOVE OVER DARLING

ALFIE

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT

JEAN (if that counts)

Does Cabaret count???

Why should TCB be playing dead?

I do believe he begs and rolls over but I thought that was the extent of his training.

You would be amazed, o' Ozman.

I suspect TCB's Herb Alpert comment was more bull than lonely.

I'm sure he has enjoyed his whipped cream and indeed many other delights. (though he will claim to have forgotten).

I was thinking about how much I love MOST of the James Bond title songs, with ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE'S "All the Time in the World" being tops on my list, but, it's not really a "Title Song," is it?

I really like what Shirley Bassey does with "Moonraker," in addition to her superb vocals on "Goldfinger" and "Diamonds are Forever."  It's a pity that her "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Thunderball" aren't heard often.
