Well... The "extra car" has been sold.

In the meantime, I went ahead and updated the art work and some of the track listings in my iTunes library.  *And I'm still trying to figure out why some artwork is automatically found, while others require a manual search.  -Even if the album is already part of the iTunes store.

I did purchase a phillip glass Lp once - Linda Ronstadt sang on one track and Paul Simon wrote the lyrics for another.  I think Suzanne Vega also provided lyrics.  I've not bothered updating from vinyl to CD.

Continuing the gift-to-charty thing:  In this situation, we'd always exchanged gifts every year for many many years, so it came as a real surprise to find this out on Dec. 22.  A couple of other friends told me at the end of November that they wouldn't be doing Christmas gifts this year, and that's of course OK.  

I'm not begrudging any charity their donation, but it seems like a donation was made and gift cards were handed over by the charity for the friend to send out.   There was no thought, of course, to what charity I would like to have made a contribution to in my name.

(At least this is better than when my name and address has been given to a charity for the charity to send me the card directly, in which case I've ended up on multiplying mailing lists for similar charities and permanently getting the organizations' newsletters.  I'm just not the type who can call a charity and say "take me off your list," and the transferring of the mailing list is just out of hand anyway, so it's become easier to just discard the mail.)

On a related charitable note :)  - It seems that when you give a donation to a non-profit theater over the phone, that theater very likely shares your phone number with lots of other non-profit theaters.  My phone number happens to be listed under Skip's name, and I've been getting lots of calls from theaters knowing my name to whom I've never contributed before.  No good deed, etc.

Oh my, I'm sounding like a Scrooge today regarding charities.  :) :)

IMHO - Totally inconsiderate.  A friend would discuss the option (I would have thought).

After discussion with my Sister and her daughter (re my daughter's children), and with DP's mother, I have now chosen to give "living gifts" ie  sponsorship of animals at the zoo.  The kids get some sense of "ownership" etc and My mother-in-law thinks it is delightful that she has a Red panda!  My niece's children have everything they need (and more) in terms of clothes, toy and books etc.  

The kids can choose their own animal to sponsor in future years.
(It also means visits to the zoo will be on the agenda).

I dislike how so many Charity organisations prey on the elderly! It is often difficult for them to say no and they can be easily signed up for automatic contributions.

RE phone calls from arts organizations:  I had to get very stern with the rep from the Victoria Theatre Association the other evening.  We subscribed to their Broadway series several years ago and it became quite a hassle to get to every show.  If there's a show we want to see, I walk to the box office on my lunch hour and purchase the tickets we need.  If they continue to hound us about subscribing (like they did this week, 3 evenings in a row), I'll quit doing even that.

No wonder I have so much trouble with the post office.  I wanted some information so I went to AOL Search to contact the post office.  Four times in a row, it asked for my five digit Zip code, and when I entered it, the repsonse came back saying "No such Zip Code".

Good Evening!

Well.. Just waiting for my brother, Mike, and his clan to arrive.  They called about 45 minutes ago saying that they should be here in 30 minutes, so... ???

In the meantime, I'm trying to not to eat the rest of the brown'n'serve rolls my Dad found at one of the local markets.  They sure are tasty!

At least the Tonic Sol-Fa Christmas special is on again the PBS HD channel.

It's a good thing that woman in the car across from mine didn't have a video camera, or else a video of me trying to stuff twenty helium balloons into a Toyota would be on YouTube tonight. She was quite amused.
