Congrats to Skip on Herringbone.  In honor of the award, I shall look lovingly at a jar of herring.

Okay, this year-end errant and truant behavior will be met with a lashing by penne pasta.

Actually I read a great many books this year, but I thought the TOD was referring to books published this year.  I did love the final HARRY POTTER (which I forgot about, thank you, Matt), but all of the other books I read were published prior to this year.  Of course, if td had let me know that Charles Dickens had a new book out this year, I would have certainly read it.

My dear chum Chuckie Dickens puts out at least a book a year, he's quite prolific. . .I think he's working on a mystery novel now which he hopes to musicalize. . . ;)

I, too, neglected to mention HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. . . :-[

DBF and I had a lovely afternoon. WE left to go have coffee before the movie at Barnes and Noble. I did a bit of browsing and saw a couple of books I am interested in.

We went to the matinee showing of ENCHANTED. Wonderful and simply delightful. The only drawback was this bratty little 7 year old behind me kicking my chair.

Amy Adams was wonderful and a simple delight. I really enjoyed her on screen. What a treat! The little girl who played Morgan was adorable and Susan Sarandon was excellent as Nerissa. DBF also greatly enjoyed the film.

After the movie, we went out for dinner at Granite City. Excellent food. I had a three cheese baked Ravioli with mixed vegetables. DBF had had Parmesan fettucinni.

DAKOTA CELT also helped with BK's birthday DVD, even though her life was in turmoil at the time. She immediately offered to do some artwork, which was quite lovely, and without her, I'm afraid we would have forgotten the fershluganah COWS! And what's HHW without cows, I ask you?

An unMOOving place!

LOVE HHW... Gotta love the cows! ;)

HAPPY BD, DAKOTACELT.  If you don't have them already, I highly recommend both Moya Brennan's and Natalie MacMaster's new CDs.

Thank you for the birthday wishes JMK. I am a big fan of Natalie and  I hope to get her cd soon.

Moya Brennan I will have to check out also.

And of interest to some DRs, Federated Warehouse also had a nice collection of movie posters.  Well, more like "ads" - they were about 18 inches tall and 6 feet wide/long.  There was also a great oversized poster for the French release of "The Glass Key" ("Un Clé de Verre").

Speaking of movie posters, I got two this year at the Fargo Theatre:

The Namesake
Wind that Shakes the Barley

Interestingly, the last one will fit in with the other two Irish themed movie posters i have: Michael Collins and The Devil's Own

OH!

DR DakotaCelt - I meant to mention that part of the soundtrack for "Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" is provided by the Chieftains.

-And I actually liked Sinead O'Connor's song, "Back Where You Belong (Theme from The Water Horse)" that started off the closing credits.

Now to watch some more movies...just finished GUYS AND DOLLS...somehow in my 40 something years of watching movie musicals this movie has escaped my notice. Correcting this injustice, Don, our mailroom guy at work, loaned me his DVD of what is his all time favorite film.

Very fun movie and it was most enjoyable to spot my interviewee Lynnette Bernay as one of "The Goldwyn Girls" in several of the musical numbers.

I don't know which surprised me more; the fact that Mr. Barnum watched a movie I had, also, seen, or that he singled out the only actress that I never even knew was in that movie.

I wondered that when I saw the trailers on the telly here. It truly sounded like them. I will have to get it. THe chieftains also did some of the music for Circle of Friends but I have never been able to find that one.

BTW, only two theatres in ND are showing  Sweeney Todd. Grand Forks will get it this weekend.
