Question for MattH and JMK...when you are sent DVDs to watch and review...what happens if it is a something you just can't stand, but there are, like, 50 episodes that you have to watch?

You just grit your teeth and soldier through them. I've had two TV box sets that I've had to deal with (and quite a few films, too) and couldn't stand. You just don't always get things you personally like to have to watch.

I think that was my favorite of all the Actors Fund benefit concerts.  It was one of those "electricity in the audience" nights.  People were very excited and curious to hear Josh Groban sing Anthem.  But Chess has been a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I first saw it in London.

Oh, I wish I had seen it!  In London!  Except for a few moments, the Broadway cast recording leaves me wanting.  Which, I suppose is why in my ITunes library (are you listening DR Ron?) I have SEVEN recordings of CHESS! ! !  I listen to the concept album and The Actors Fund Benefit concert the most.
Josh Groban and "Anthem" are a match made in heaven!

Got the kitchen floor mopped and remembered that the heat has been off all day long. It's still off, and the house isn't the least bit cold.

I watched several more ODD COUPLE episodes and am well into disc 3 now. Included in the ones I watched tonight was another of the classic episodes: Felix and Oscar's squabbling gets so intense that they consult a couples counselor who suggests they switch roles - Felix the slob and Oscar the neat freak. Absolutely hilarious.

I had very moist eyes at the end of tonight's GHOST WHISPERER. I guessed what was going on with the girl, but that didn't make the execution of the story any less moving.

And MOONLIGHT had a magnificent hour, another high water mark for the show. Loved Mick in the interrogation room.

Congratulations on the show winning the People's Choice Award for Best Drama. I hope that will help CBS decide to pick it up for another season.

PSYCH was pretty good, but there weren't enough uses of Shawn's "powers" to suit me this week.

Good Evening!

In the meantime...

Since I hadn't really left the apartment today, except to go to the gym, and since I needed to pick up a few groceries, I went ahead and hopped on the A train, and headed down to Times Square.  Once there, I made a brief stop at the Virgin Megastore, then walked up Eighth Ave. to Westerly Market (basically, the local version of Whole Foods - with better prices on a bunch of items!), then up to Columbus Cirlce where they were taking down the Christmas lights from the trees out front, then back on the A Train back uptown.

I'm sure Ron will agree with my following statement.  I hate when the flight I'm on leaves late and my connecting flight departs on time, causing me to miss my flight by minutes.

I expect that is what happened to Craig.  I seriously doubt he managed to get off his first flight, rush to the next terminal, and be seated in time for take-off, all in 10 minutes time.

Come to think of it, I might have done that once.  Maybe I had a few more minutes, not many.  I went running through the San Francisco airport shouting "excuse me, excuse me".  The people were very kind making way for me.  I arrived at the gate gasping for air just as they were about to close the doors.  They waited until I could breathe well enough to walk onto the plane. ;D

It is strange to walk, or run, up to the gate and they know your name, simply by default.

I've been in a similar situation twice - and both times I was connecting through Chicago-O'Hare, however, since they're so used to flight delays there - and since there were a few other people who had to make the same connections...

The flight crew had called ahead to tell the other flights that some people would be cutting it close.  They even made the "other" people on the plane stay seated once we landed in order for the "close" people to deplane first.  Then came the mad dash... "We've been expecting you.".... Whew!

Do you have or have you heard the Swedish cast recording?  It's got the original Anatoly and he's still a fantanstic singer.

The following are in my CHESS folder:
1.  CHESS demos
2.  CHESS pa Svenska featuring Tommy Körberg as Anatoly.
3.  CHESS concept album
4.  CHESS original Broadway cast
5.  CHESS in concert 1994
6.  CHESS the complete cast album 2001/2002
7.  CHESS the Actors Fund concert 2003

That's a lot of nights in Bangkok. . . .

Greetings from the wilds of RURAL Groton, South Dakota!

It has been a LONG day, and tomorrow will be even longer, so I am going to bed.  But we got here safely, and we're glad to be here representing the family.

Smooches, kids!   :)

DR td, I love the concept recording.  The Broadway recording was not able to match the splender of the concept recording.

The London version was glorious.  Unfortunately, much was changed, and for the worse, in the Broadway production.   It's most unfortunate that the London version, or some form of it, is not permitted to be performed in the United States.

Although I will admit to one improvement -- the addition of the song Someone Else's Story.

Do you happen to have the Swedish concert recording?  I've never heard that one, but I know a lot of people like it.
