Watching "American Idol"...

I actually like the preliminary rounds.  Yes, I know the producers do a lot of "encouraging" of the less-than-stellar talent, but... I still like it.  It's like therapy for me. ;)

*And I do have to give the production staff - mainly the editors - for putting together all the footage from each city.  They still manage to make it look like everyone got scene in one day, when, in fact, it's a multi-day process.

Sapling balls and bedbugs.

I ask you, where else on the entire inner net will you find such topics all in the same place?

That makes me think of another article I read about a lady, who as a joke, started selling tumbleweeds online -- they became a hit with folks wanting to use them as decorations, at western themed parties, etc., so now she makes about $40,000 a year stepping out in her yard and catching tumbleweeds ... one lady's old dried up weeds (and trip laughing all the way to the bank) are another's piece of craftwork ...

Somewhere between Sacramento & L.A. Keith mentioned her to me as the tumbleweeds were attacking our car.  It felt as if we were in a tumbleweed storm.

After Evening Prayer, in which Richard was the chant leader, we went to a pizza place in Oconomowoc.  We then reconvened in their classroom to watch a video about St. Gregory's church in San Francisco.  The students are now discussing what we've seen.  And I'm here for the wireless connection.

We knew in reality the tumbleweeds were light and would blow away, but when they are gigantic & blowing straight at your windshield they are scary. ;D  They can scratch the car & make a mess of the front grill.

The class discussion has quickly turned into a lecture by the prof - and he's losing the students, who are exhausted.

DR Cillaliz - congratulations on your new library card!

Thanks Ginny! I've had one in every city I've lived in, but just never got around to getting one here.  I checked out A Thousand Splendid Suns (I think that's the title)

I must have missed a page.  The tumbleweeds don't look so scary when they are standing still. ;D

The person who's been nagging me for conference details for a week now was sent them in an email almost 5 hours ago.  So far, they have not been acknowledged.

Makes ya wonder, huh?

After watching The Kite Runner and A Mighty Heart, I decided I may as well read another book covering Afghanistan and Pakistan

They aren't tumbleweeds; they are woven out of sticks and quite intricate, really.

I must photograph green tumbleweeds for you all sometime.

And my book group this month is reading Three Cups of Tea:  One Man's Mission to Promote Peace...One School at a Time, by Greg Mortenson.

It was up for a year or two at the Sioux City Art center until it finally took a dive.  This looks like it was near the end
