After the matinee, I headed on up to Lincoln Center to meet up with my friend, Jeff, for dinner.  We were going to go to the New York Philharmonic tonight, but by the time we got to the box office, it turned out there were barely any tickets left, and the ones that were available, were singles in the far reaches of Avery Fisher Hall.  So, we passed on the Phil, which turned out to be a good thing, since Jeff got a call from the hospital about a patient (he's a doctor), and Phil called me since his evening plans changed due to a friend's flight getting delayed by a couple of hours.  So, Jeff headed to the hospital, and I headed back to Times Square.

I was hoping that Phil and I could sneak in to see Legally Blonde, but...

ATTENTION NEW YORKERS:  IT IS A HOLIDAY WEEKEND... STAY AWAY FROM TIMES SQUARE!!!!!

;)

In any case...  After checking with the box office manager, the house manager, the company manager and the stage manager at The Palace, we were informed that there was no way they could squeeze us in tonight.  They were completely sold out.  -In fact, even A Chorus Line was sold out for both shows today.  Well...  We walked here, we walked there, then we boarded the 1 Train downtown and walked around The Village for a while.  And, yes, Cones Gelato was consumed in transit.  ;)

Then it was time to head back uptown so that Phil could meet his friend who's flight finally made it into La Guardia.  I was going to walk up to his friend's hotel with him, but decided to say our goodbyes and head over to Ninth Avenue to make a stop into Amy's Breads for some treats for tomorrow morning.  Well...

As I'm walking down 46th Street, I thought I walked by someone I knew from Richmond... And, lo and behold, it was him and his partner!  Joel and John had come up for the holiday weekend, and they had just come from seeing The Homecoming with some friends.  They were walking around trying to find a piano bar since there was an hour wait to get into Don't Tell Mama.  I suggested a few places, but since I was a bit tired after walking around all day, I wanted to head home.  However, we made plans to meet tomorrow for dinner.  :)

*Alas, Amy's Bread was already closed for the evening.

I'm signing off for the day.  I've got too much to accomplish at the apartment. I'll be back tomorrow.

the most frustrating situation is that I can receive my email, which is on Time Warner, but since the office uses Verizon, I can receive my email but only respond by using Time Warner's webmail.  Oy!

At any rate, pray for Rosemary's Baby!

DR elmore - Just set up the POP mail features on gmail to accept your Time-Warner emails.

I own it.  I've read it twice.  Brilliant writing.  Completely researched.  Compelling reading.

. . .and while we're on the subject. . .

Name two films (one for television) based on the Leo Frank case.

Hmmm... I know one of them - the TV movie... Since it was filmed in Richmond while I was in school...

OH!  And I just remembered the other one now too!  :)

Are you scared of The Sisters or The Brothers?  Or of John Travolta?

Wow! I have been listening almost all evening to The New York Shakespeare Co.'s THREE PENNY OPERA.  It's a killer recording.

Is it embarrassing to admit that when I saw it, I had no idea why these obviously gay guys would want Marlena to wait for them?

Oh...

The "Claymaniacs" were in full-force outside The Shubert Theatre tonight!  -And, apparently, last night too when Clay Aiken started his stint in Spamalot.

*A friend of mine who works merchandise for the show said that the souvenir program sales for last night, his first night in the show were quite good - and quite surprising.  He sold $5,000 alone in just programs - they've printed a special pullout centerfold of Clay Aiken.  They've been averaging about a fifth of that lately.  Guess they're going to increase their order from the printer next week.

Remember the controversy when an Andrews Sisters musical was being sold as "an explosion of knockout dancing?"

Ma, those men are gay.  Why are they rolling all over each other on the floor in front of Mitzi?

You'll understand when you're older, it's called acting.

Fun fact:  The gargoyles in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dames (both Parts 1 and 2) are named Victor, Hugo and Laverne.
