They have been working on our complex since January.  Today, they are painting our building.  Yesterday, they "sealed" our deck and sprinkled it with little grains of sand, which is actually quite nice.  While the construction people are nice (none of whom speak English, of course) it's a PAIN IN THE .... to use the front door to take the dog out or do the laundry.  I'm hoping they finish our corner soon.

These gas prices are absolutely ridiculous and it is going to take yet another game-playing threat by the government to get them down again - it's happened every year for the last three years and I really wish that they DO something to these oil companies that would finally send them a clear message that this is not acceptable.  It couldn't have come at a worse time than making these treks down to Anaheim so often.

In a recent press conference, George W. Bush expressed a bit of surprise that one of his questions was about the ever-increasing rise in gasoline prices.  "Interesting" was his comment, to which he added that he had not been aware.

Later in the SAME press conference, another reporter asked him why more attention had not been paid to a certain issue, to which Bush replied that he had been preoccupied with "other issues" like the increases in gasoline costs.

I just got the call that I am this month's lucky winner of the random drug test at one of the community centers where I direct a choir.  Time to go fill a cup.

When I used to work with elementary and high school students in Virginia and Maryland, I was required to get fingerprinted and checked for past criminal activity each year I was with the program.  And, of course, I had to go to my nearest police precinct to get the fingerprinting done.

I did hear a newscaster on CNN stumbling over the similarity between the words "prosecution" and "prostitution" this morning (as in "if he's found guilty of prosecution")

Let's just say that there is a reason for that 72 hour wait time for the second application.    TMI??

We don't have a cafeteria. We have a "lunch room" where, if you bring your own food you may warm it up in the microwave or the toaster oven, and then sit at a counter or a table and consume said food. You may also purchase a wide array (not) of cold beverages including two different brands of cola and a brand of lemon-lime soda. They used to have V-8 but I think I was the only person drinking it so they stopped stocking it. There is also a vending machine with such healthy alternatives as Twix Bars, Snickers, Lays Potato Chips, Pretzels and the like.

The "lunch room" is the very place where I make my oatmeal each and every morning and the sink in the same room is the place where I clean the bowl.

I don't eat in the lunch room because I don't bring consumables. I go home for lunch and avoid the crowds.
