I think that was on last week's menu...

Are you sure that wasn't "roughage"?

A lull.

I seem to have that effect on people.

It's not you.  Not "this" time.

So much for the grainy textured balcony, they are covering it now with a purple-ish paint.

Just your balcony, DR Matthew?  Or all of them?

Perhaps they're trying to tell you something.     ;)

And the word of the day is: ASSUAGE!
It is danged near impossible to ASSUAGE a hot Italian SAUSAGE in order to turn it into a sweet Italian SAUSAGE.

Well, so long as they don't have cement shoes.

DR RonP, ah okay the IDOL/ BIG BROTHER mix-up makes sense. I really was confused!

RE: BIG BROTHER and who they will vote back in.

I really have no idea who it will be. I can't say that i totally dislike any of them (except alison).

I just hope that whoever is voted back doesn't simply get voted out right away.

RE: sheila, someone (either hamsterwatch or televisionwithoutpity live feed spoilers) mentioned that they think she is a grand place right now. She is causing trouble. Yet nobody is blaming her. And she is not on anybody's hit list.

I've also read that adam is in a good place.

DR MattH, i agree with you about IDOL.  Nobody really has my attention.

I just can't figure out if the judges and others really mean it when they say it is the best group ever. Because i don't see it.

In light of the Spitzer scandal, an old pun:

There were these islanders who worshiped ever-living dolphins and
hoped they would be conferred immortality by sacrificing seagulls to
them. They ran out of birds on that side of the island, though, so
they went to the other side of the island to get some more.

Coming back, they found the way blocked by two regal lions who were
sound asleep. Knowing the dolphins were waiting for the sacrifice,
they tiptoed up and stepped over the lions, whereupon they were
immediately arrested and charged with transporting gulls over
stately lions for immortal porpoises.

This, of course, has been plagiarized by no less than P. D. Q. Bach, as the fourth part of the oratorio "Knock Knock," sub-titled "So this guy..."

P. D. Q. did change the story somewhat, so that the final payoff is sung as "Transporting young gulls across staid lions for immoral porpoises."

I have never had fried okra, in any form.

That will have to count as my faux pas.  I'm keeping mum about the rest of 'em.

The annoying errand turned out to be not so annoying after all, so that was good.  Then I talked to CD Baby on the phone, since I couldn't get a response to my e-mail.  I got a notice last Tuesday that a payment would be coming (they always allow five days for it to hit my paypal account), and as of today it still hadn't arrived.  This company is usually perfect in terms of responding to e-mails and such, so I was surprised not to have a response.  I got someone on the phone who confirmed to me I'm one of many calls because their system went down last week for a day or two, and they're really backed up on responding to e-mails, and because the system was down, our payments from last week only actually went out yesterday, which means we're still three or four days away from actually getting it.  Unfortunately, Kritzerland lives on these payments from CD Baby and amazon and when they're late it's always annoying.

I have had many faux pas...what the plural of faux pas?  Where's Francois when I need him?

Anyway, I don't know that I remember a "worst"  I just try to turn it into a joke of some sort and that usually does the trick.  Or stay away from the people involved for a period of time so they, hopefully, forget whatever it was

Well it turns out they did not in fact have a "cup" waiting for me--they had a letter informing me I had to drive another 35 miles out to some clinic in B*****k (that's how eBay lists it), Oregon, which I politely declined to do.  I told them I was sick, I have a sick child at home, I am a parttime employee who only works on Tuesday and, sorry, I need more than 3 minutes' warning to reschedule my life.  I told them I'd be happy to go to a closer-in clinic next Tuesday, my next scheduled workday.  They just emailed me that "this time" it would be fine, but I'd better "comply" next time.  Too funny.

OH!

So, did anyone else keep thinking it was their phone vibrating while watching the footage of Spitzer's news conference?  I kept checking my phone each time I heard that low hum, then realized it was coming from the TV.  -And then I finally heard the reports about how some reporters had simply placed their cellphones on the podium since the news conference was called at the last minute, and some of them weren't able to get their station crews there in time!
