Man: "I hope you like early English perpendicular."

Woman: "Darling, I revel in early English perpendicular!"

Goodbye, Mr Chips, the musical.....I love that line.....

I gave her the distinct impression that such a thing shall not be happening.

Oh DR JOSE.....my birthday twin got it right before I did.

RE:BB - I agree with DR RLP that James did what he did because Matt lied and deserved everything he got.  Natalie is an idiot.  BUT I think that I am an even bigger dummy for watching this crap.

Well....Miss Blue Moon is suffering from cancer of the lymph glands.  She is home and on steroids and other medication, but the prognosis is not good....it is down to time left....a few months, I guess.

But they will be good ones for her.

As for eyeglasses and eyeglass frames and lenses...

The two things I loved - and miss! - about my former insurance plan in DC through the AFM were the inclusion of dental and optical riders!  With the way the plan was structured, most of the time, my lenses were free - I don't have any "fancy" things wrong with my eyes, so that also helped.  Additionally, the cost of the frames were greatly reduced too, and they had some pretty nice optical shops on their approved list.  The two pairs that I still have and wear today just cost me a little under $150 for both pairs.  Thankfully, my prescription has not changed in years, so I haven't had to upgrade my lenses, but I have been thinking about getting a new set of eyeglasses lately, but, alas, the cost is just way too prohibitive.  -And I always noticed that the frames at "For Eyes" that come under their "$99.00 complete" sale are $99.00 for a reason.  ;)

Oh, please. I am sure that ALW has stolen MANY melodies from Puccini's Madama Butterfly for his own musicals!

Add me to the list of DRs needing new eyeglasses.

Question for anyone:
WHY are eyeglass frames sooo expensive? I don't get it. I can understand the lenses being costly, as they must be ground precisely, but I do NOT understand the high cost of the frames.

End of rant. (EOR)

I don't know, but I need new glasses too.  I was considering making an appointment today but forgot to do it.

I got the Blu-ray review disc for UNBREAKABLE, my favorite of the M. Night Shymalan films. This will be what I'll watch tomorrow. It comes out April 1.

That is so strange, Matt.  UNBREAKABLE is the one M. Night Shymalan film that I can't stand to sit through.  The whole film makes my skin crawl.

A. Basic black or clear plastic rimmed, standard lens sized, frames are inexpensive.

B. The materials and techniques used to manufacture hi-tech light weight and relatively indestructible frames with spring-loaded ear pieces are pricey.

C. "Designer Frames" - you pay for the name!

Or put another way - they charge it because people pay it!

der Brucer

If you divide the cost of the glasses but the number of days you wear them, it isn't so bad.

I sorta felt that way the first time I saw it.  But then I caught it on TV one night...started watching...and found myself totally mesmerized.

It has been a staple in my DVD collection ever since.  Have enjoyed several intense viewings.

Ditto with "Signs", my favorite Shyamalan film (thus far).

Well, if you listen to any of the Meyerbeer operas, you'll hear lots of familiar melodies.  ;)  -And since Meyerbeer operas are rarely performend, well... Maybe that's "why", if you get my drift.

However, the "Humming Chorus" in Madama Butterfly has always reminded me of "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables and vice versa - especially when the barricades are spinning (in Les Miserables, that is) showing all the dead bodies, with the oboe playing the melody and the strings/keyboard sparsely accompanying.

Very interesting. I will have to A/B them.

Do you ever hear melodic "similarities" in popular songs? I hear them all the time. I posted this on Youtube:
