Just finished a rather large corporate return.  This is my idea of fun.

You must be great fun!    :D

Come do my taxes.

And while you're at it, clean my carpet.

Ron, I'd love the opportunity to nosily go through your receipts and expenditures, er, I mean, help you out with your taxes.

:)

Although my knowledge of California individual income tax isn't what it should be.  :(

Do you serve the in-laws carpet stew rugout?

We went to the place with the Wurlitzer organ. They heard about it from my MIL and wanted to see it. So I got out of cooking tonight!

I'm supposed to visit Vegas in June with my mom for her 80th birthday.  We have a phenomenal deal at Harrah's.  (The other times I've been there, it's been the Riviera, the Rio, and Bally's.  I've never noticed the carpets on previous trips, but that was before DR Laura and HHW.)

When we went for Mom's 75th birthday, in 2003, she swam every day - and was walking a lot better than she is now, but then, so was I.  The other day, she asked me to hold off on buying the plane tickets to Veags until she and my dad get back from Florida in May.

They had a pizza place in Indianpolis with a huge theater organ.  Lots of fun, lousy pizza.

DearReaderLaura, have you looked at your profile lately?  Do you intentionally want folks to think you're 107 years old?

I take that back.  I did notice that the carpets at the Bellagio felt nicer on the feet than the carpets at many other hotels.  It was a pleasure to walk there, even if the search for the nickel poker machines was fruitless.

Huge theater organ?  Did Milton Berle do theater?

If only it weren't tax season, we could go one like this for weeks.

DR Ron Pulliam: Yes.

DR FJL: You will not only notice casino carpets, but I bet you will check out ceilings and doorknobs, too!

We saw the musical CRY BABY on Friday night..  I think it will be a big big hit with the people who didn't mind the "cruel" humor of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, and I prognosticate that it will run quite a while and only just barely pay back its investment.  I do think the leading man has a great career ahead of him on the screen, but he didn't feel right for this dark-ish role somehow.  Maybe by the time the critics see the show in a few weeks...

I did check out the ceilings when I casino-hopped in Atlantic City last summer.

I spy me some DR BrettySpaghetti!

DR BrettySpaghetti, do you like Bollywood movies?
Do you like gladiator movies?

 ;)

I can't say for sure that I've ever seen any from either category, but I'm pretty sure the answer would be no.

My favorite movies may be viewed here:

I'm watching tonight's episode of "Celebrity Apprentice" and they had a promo saying that both "Monk" and "Psych" are coming to NBC, starting April 6th.  Are they going to be new episodes or repeats??

We get around the bagging problem by having the checkers doing the bagging at the same time as they check.  Most of our baggers are still in high school, and only available on weekends.

Every once in a while, a customer goes to where the bagger would normally be working, and then is astounded when I start bagging.  Apparently, in some areas (like New Jersey), the customers are expected to bag.  I can't see it, myself - bagging is a courtesy, and we are always courteous to our customers.

Of course, there are some cutomers we know well enough to tease a bit, but that's different.   ;D

I mostly go to Fred Meyer and the checkers there bag the items as they check, but I usually use the self-checkout, so I bag my purchases myself.

I don't care for them. I just saw Lawrence of Arabia, and I want those seven hours of my life back. (I watched the intermission numerous times.) Well, it's definitely the best movie ever about people riding on camels.

There is a local grocery store called MegaFoods that was the first store that I can remember where the customers could bag their own, if they wanted.  They also didn't have regular baggers late in the evening.
