HA!  I'm in the midst of sipping a cup of green tea.  Well... The past few mornings, I've been thinking that my green tea has tasted a little weak, mild, but I thought that was just due to the fact that I opened an older box that I've had in my cupboard for a while.  I just took a few sips of my current cup, and said to myself - Now this is green tea!  -Then I went to my impromptu tea tin, and realized that I had been pulling out bags of chamomile tea the past few days.  -I wonder if that's why I've been so calm, cool and collective lately?  ;)

Oh, I guess my "job" around the Reservoir was also a running gag for a while, and still pops up from to time.

And I guess The Reservoir itself became its own running gag too.

Shouldn't that be for others to decide?    ;)

OK - I need to pretty myself up and get ready to head down to the rehearsal studio for today's round of dance auditions.  Thankfully, I'll have internet access today... :)  So...

Advice About NYC
« Reply #67 on: March 25, 2008, 05:58:10 AM »

Hi All,

I know that I don't post here very often, but Bruce suggested that I post my request to the board.  I'll be brief.

I have recently become very fond of a young (23 or so) lady that I work with who is about to go back to school in August to obtain her MBA.  Before she locks up another 3 years of her life, she intends to visit New York (in June) with a girl friend.  Well, she is begun investigating the cost of lodging and is appalled at its cost (she is just out of college and doesn't earn very much at this point).  So my question is: do you know of a place in New York that is of reasonable cost where a pair of young ladies can stay for a few days (they intend 3-4 nights, then continue on to Washington, DC) that is both safe and clean?  It doesn't have to be any place fancy; just safe, clean and affordable.  I've searched the Internet and have been unable to find anything that puts my mind at ease.  If you know of such a place, or know someone who might, please contact me.

Bruce, of course, being the helpful fellow that he is, has offered to send me the e-mail address of the fellow he rented the apartment from when he was doing Brain in NY.  But on the chance the the apartment isn't available, he suggested that I post here.  I can personally vouch for the character of the young ladies.  Both are considerate, clean and neat.  Many thanks to any and all who can help with a suggestion.

Warmest Regards,
Vincent

BK, re: your traffic woes.  Do you ever listen to the traffic reports before you head out? I know that i try to do that if i'm heading downtown. Here in montreal they have reports every 10 minutes.  That might at least help you not get stuck in any major messes.

Also, (and i'm not sure if this is common in the US), here in montreal we have these electronic signs posted on the highways that tell you the traffic patterns up ahead.  So you can turn off it if seems like there is a major accident.

I agree that it sometimes seems a bit odd when the people working with allison don't believe her. However, in this case i think maybe it was slightly justified. Maybe not for her to be fired. But Cynthia has not worked with her that long. Plus sometimes her dreams are not exactly right. They just lead her to the right place by the end.

As for the blonde girl, i also had inclinations that maybe she was not on the up and up. But i thought how they had her at the door was quite jarring. And i thought how the cases tied together was quite great. Especially when allison/cynthia went to her mom and she said she had never been kidnapped.

I was really interested in the whole show and can't wait for next week.

Bretty, that summary of MEDIUM was hilarious.

MEDIUM SPOILER (well, a rather large MEDIUM spoiler)

And can you work in something about the husband being upset because his money woes take a momentary back seat to her saving people's actual lives.     I wanted to shout at the TV set that he should get some priorities, and indeed did shout at the Tv set (and the show's writers in the process  :)  ).

Vin, check out the Markle Residence. It's a women's apartment building run by the Salvation Army. It's on 13th Street just off 6th Avenue. As of September 2007 the daily rates were $75 for a room.

You can see more at the Web site

Ah, DR Miss Karen!   How good to see you.

But surely you meant to post this as three separate posts?   ;)

How goes the thesis?

So my question is: do you know of a place in New York that is of reasonable cost where a pair of young ladies can stay for a few days ...

How goes the thesis?

I know, I've been terribly E and T -- but come June, I'll be back in all my gratuitous glory (Ronnie P will be so happy ...  ;))

The thesis? Hmm, well, it's going -- where? To be determined (hopefully not hell in a hand basket..). I completed my companion one-act Parched (my experiment updating O'Neill's Thirst) . I'll be holding auditions for both it and Thirst tomorrow and Thursday. I'll be presenting them as companion one-act readings for Tomorrow's Theatre Tonight (a monthly reading series here) in April and then Thirst as my thesis presentation in May.  Got the set design and set crew lined up and I'm working on all the other details.  Send those vibes for successful casting!

Good morning!

We never got the rain they predicted, and now there is no more in the forecast until Saturday, so it should be a beautiful week. Still in the high 50s today, but then we warm up for the rest of the week.

Re: Traffic in L.A.

Don't you wonder what kinds of jobs all these people have that compel them to be on the road during the day? They can't ALL be truckers and traveling salespeople. What happened to those who spend their day working in one building from 9 to 5?

'Tis a puzzlement.

And send vibes that Missy K doesn't end up committed to Sunny Vale (the guys in the white coats pulled up in the driveway in the padded van the other day, but I just pretended I wasn't home and wouldn't answer the door, so they left...)
