I remember that!  Was that one of the first examples of demonstrations of this ilk?

Heavens no! I remember the long protest lines surrounding the theatre's when "The Moon Is Blue" was released - (a film in which the whole point is that nothing untoward happens!)

"Tea and Sympathy" caused protests.

Broadway, however, split the protest camp with both Godspell and Superstar - some churches ran buses of protesters, other churches bought blovks of tickets for church trips.

Is that actually Zack's costume in A CHORUS LINE?  I don't remember any Zack looking like that!

And MORE's the PITY!

No, DR TCB - as you'll see when you get to that post, DR JoseSPiano explained that this is from the put-in rehearsal this past Friday.  :)

"The Moon is Blue"....I remember reading that it got some sort of kiss of death from the Catholic church.

Did they rate it "X" or something?

And since it's addressed by your own hand, someday I shall auction it off on eBay and retire on the interest from the proceeds.

I remember the church protestors on Broadway outside Oklahoma.

The corn is as high
As a six foot gay guy...

They actually succeeded in persuading Hammerstein to change that lyric!

I always thought her voice was SO refined - even in House of Wax...and what I lovely figure.

I guess Peter Lawford (with the claw right hand) had it in his contact that physical intimacy between them was to kept to the minimum - no kissing - because Phyllis' childhood polio and its physical effects on her made it difficult for him to be close to her.

And she didn't walk or run much in the show because of the limitations.  8)

I guess I didn't realize that Phyllis Kirk had passed away.  Nor, was I aware that she had problems walking, as a result of polio.

Apparently, Henry loved holding court, and sort of got bored once he was off the boat since he didn't have his admirers surrounding him all the time.  ;)

LOL-that is really cute! :)

I'm home from work and don't have to go back until next Tuesday.  Of course, I do have a day and a half of conference programming to coordinate in a town halfway across the state.  And as soon as that's over, I have to drive back across the state to meet my family Saturday night for a Sunday morning baptism, after which the "girls" in the family will attend a tea at niece Rev. Amy's church and then drive home.  Anybody want to know why I took Monday as an additional vacation day?

I do not think that there are too many words that rhyme with "packages."

After the cyber attack, the IT's were stunned at the damage casued by the hackages.

It was "condemned" by the Catholic League of Deceny - viewing the film was deemed a sin.

TCM had a very nice interview on their ROLE MODEL series last night. Alec Baldwin interviewed a rather frail Gene Wilder. It was very well-done.

What is wrong with Gene Wilder?

FANDANGO

Quote
The Catholic League of Decency gave Billy Wilder's Kiss Me, Stupid! a "condemned" rating.

The Moral Majority charged the picture with debauchery and movie theaters across the nation discontinued its run. The bed-trick comedy had America's panties tied in a knot; one could not imagine a story so distasteful. Dean Martin is Dino, a Las Vegas crooner, alcoholic, and celebrity playboy.

Singdaw- Sherlock often goes on errands with me, however they are combined with a walk or hike.  If Keith is at the gym when I go for my hikes without Sherlock, then he gets left at home for an hour or so.  Basically he is alone when we go to a movie or out to dinner, and lately we haven’t done much of that.

He is fine if left in his house or car.  Unfortunately the doggie day care kennel didn’t open until recently, and after his surgery we were afraid to leave him in anyone else’s care.  We also did a fantastic job of training him to be in tuned to us all the time, even at the dog park. ;D

What do you do with Zach when you travel?

I think we regressed in sophistication.

Good luck that changes, for the better, in the near future.

DR Jane - Mostly we try to go places where we can bring Zach along.  On occasion, we've left him with my mother or with the friend that owns Cody, who we've boarded at our house on occasion.  They get along fine, so that works out well.  A kennel would be the last resort.

Wilder is 74, which isn't that old, but some folks simply show age more severely than others.  I've seen folks in their 50s who look as though they're in their 70s or 80s.

IMO there is a 0% chance that david cook goes home tonight. He will probabaly win the whole thing. And him and the little david are the most popular.

My hope is that Sharon goes. I just really don't care for her. Actually, I would love for Sheila to leave...but since she isn't in the hot seat this week, I guess that won't happen.

Of course there were a few times that I was hoping that Natalie would get voted off...sometimes she is a tiny bit embarrassing to us Salemites  :-X

Just so you can understand my though process there, DR RLP -

I was hoping to post a picture of Judy Knaiz [Ernestina Simple].  But that was not to be had.  So there you go!
