I am super happy to be posting from home and not from work. Today is the first day of my 5 day vacation. My good friend and former roommate is on his way from Boston with his husband and their daughter. They are going to pick me up around 12:30 and then we will make our way to visit another close friend in DC/Virginia. We three have known each other since middle school- we were all in a production of Bye Bye Birdie together.

No chance, I suppose, that you are talking about Rodzinski?

I eat my peas with honey;
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife

My daily pedantic rant:

RULE: Never round off calculations until the final result is obtained!

The big "Political Pundit" issue on the PA Primary was whether or not Hilary could core a double digit victory.

The news cast were trumpeting her success based on the 55% to 45% (10%=double digits) results-

the screen showed:
Clinton - 1,258,245 votes (55%)
Obama - 1,042,297 votes (45%)

And since 55-45=10 (double digits), Clinton WON the PA race!

Well, if you do the math correctly, you have
1,258,245 plus 1,042,297 equals 2,300,542 votes;

Clinton votes as a percentage of the total = 54.6934% (prematurely rounded to 55%)

Obama votes as a percentage of the total =45.3066% (prematurely rounded to 45%)

The Clinton percentage edge is therefore 9.3868% - which is properly rounded to 9%

So, in fact, using the double-digit standard, Clinton LOST the PA race!

LESSON: Premature rounding creates cumulative error that can dramatically affect the outcome of your calculations!

Here endeth the lesson.

This from kashruth.com

http://www.kashrut.com/Passover/matzoh/

"Another type of Matzoh is called Egg Matzoh (matzah ashirah). It is produced from Passover Matzoh flour, but uses eggs or fruit juice instead of water. In theory such Matzoh cannot become Chometz, since it does not contain regular water. It does, however, pose to significant issues. First, although it may be permitted to be eaten, it may definitely not be used to fulfill the Mitzvah of eating Matzoh at the Seder, since it is not lechem oni (Bread of Affliction) and by nature cannot become Chometz. Second, the Remah rules that since contamination of the fruit juice with even a slight amount of water could cause the dough to become Chometz immediately, the custom is to refrain from eating such Matzoh on Pesach at all, except by children or the infirm."

Interesting, & explains why I have never seen it served during Passover.  I'm not a fan of egg Matzos so I would pass anyway.

That's interesting and noble, DR dB.  But sadly I suspect you were, in the long run, fighting a losing battle.  :(

Sadly, yes. The Government bureaucrats had little interest in getting a job well done; they were mainly concerned with how their Power Point presentations bolstered their status and aided in their budget requests. I was often given quizzical looks when I raised issues like Fleet Readiness, or Sailor safety.

A. This is not a done deal until McCain picks a running mate.

B. My concern with misuse of math in news broadcasts (particularly when it is the resuklt of inorance, not subjective intent!

Well, they found him guilty.  I'm ok with it.  I did everything I could and can't really think of anything I would have done differently.   A man walks into an apartment with a gun. The person in the apartment id's him. He's still at the scene and only a few feet away from the gun.   I think keeping them out for 3 1/2 hours was pretty good.

I admit, I had to go to YouTube & listen to I GO CRAZY to place him and the song.

Very Sad.
