COLONIZING AT THE COLONY

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not OVERDUE, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'll be home as soon as Colony pays its OVERDUE invoice.

Today I am singing at the 275th anniversary of the founding of the church where I sing.

In colonial Connecticut, you had to have a charter for a Congregational Church before you could establish a town, and the Meeting House was where the foundling "Government" took place.   Connecticut's current Lieutenant Governor will be attending, amongst other officials.

The Colony needs a colostomy.

That is all.

And the word of the day is: RENASCENT!
Back in the early days of television, Loretta Young would look absolutely RENASCENT every time she made one of her patented, swirling ENTRANCES.

TOD:

Book: The Oldways Table, by Gifford and Baer-Sinnott.  The premise is good: get away from over-processed food, and back to actual cooking.  Unfortunately, the authors are a pair of over-politicized liberals who make sure everyone knows that they are liberals by bringing up how they are liberals at every opportunity, and they're so proud of how liberal they are that they are just about to burst.  Like, uh, what's that got to do with the food?  Bleh.  (If they were bragging about their being conservatives, it would be equally irritating, and equally bleh.)

CD: the London recording of Sunday In the Park with George.  I miss the full orchestrations, but I love hearing voices other than Mandy and Bernadette's in the leads.  It helps me focus on what is being sung, and the joy of the music.

DVD: The Two Towers, a few chapters at a time (say, six or eight).  I really don't have time to watch an entire movie these days.  Watching a film in pieces, picking it up and "reading" it in smaller bites, that's about what I can manage these days.

TOD:

DVD - The Untouchables, some first season episodes.  I like the music and Walter Winchell and Robert Stack.  I had forgotten that Jerry Paris played a semi-regular role as an agent that first season.  I there is Abel Fernandez as Agent Longfellow (a native American) looking very fine!  I had forgotten him, too.

A big event is the Sun entering Cancer (5:00PM PDT) - a sacred turning point of the year that is also the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Domestic and family issues are thrust into the forefront of your consciousness for examination over the next four weeks. It's a great night to listen to golden oldies or dance to your favorite music. Get ready for more planetary shenanigans tomorrow morning when the red planet Mars opposes dreamy Neptune.

DR JRand - I will be heading down to Ft. Lauderdale for some work as a music director for Norwegian Cruise Lines.  I just got hired for the gig two days ago.  Alas, I will be missing "Broadway Bares", but I'm sure I'll be seeing some pics and videos sometime down the line.
