I will say, I was hoping for a direct flight down to Ft. Lauderdale, but since the cruise line had a partnership with US Airways, I'll be connecting through Charlotte.  The layover is only scheduled at an house, but I won't be getting into FLL until just before midnight.  -And I have rehearsal at 10:00am tomorrow!  -The entertainment director will be picking me up, and handing over a binder of pictures and resumes, casting assignments, the music and tapes of the show so that I can (somehow) review and learn(!) them before I start teaching tomorrow.  Whew!

:P

I guess that's why they say there ain't no such thing as a free lunch!

It will be a bit of a scurry, but I'm sure you can do it!    :)

I wish more people had the courage to stick up for what is right, DR JoseSPiano, like you did.  Permissive parents have instilled or demonstrated such borish behavior themselves.  Unfortunately today, however, if you are not a good judge of character, you can put yourself in grave peril by such actions.

I feel kind of like a walking time bomb.

Which is why you must remain resplendent in your recumbency.

Yeah - well look what happens to non-permissive parents:

Court overturns father's grounding of 12-year-old

OTTAWA (AFP) - A Canadian court has lifted a 12-year-old girl's grounding, overturning her father's punishment for disobeying his orders to stay off the Internet, his lawyer said Wednesday.

The girl had taken her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer.

The father's lawyer Kim Beaudoin said the disciplinary measures were for the girl's "own protection" and is appealing the ruling.
"She's a child," Beaudoin told AFP. "At her age, children test their limits and it's up to their parents to set boundaries."

"I started an appeal of the decision today to reestablish parental authority, and to ensure that this case doesn't set a precedent," she said. Otherwise, said Beaudoin, "parents are going to be walking on egg shells from now on."

"I think most children respect their parents and would never go so far as to take them to court, but it's clear that some would and we have to ask ourselves how far this will go."

According to court documents, the girl's Internet transgression was just the latest in a string of broken house rules. Even so, Justice Suzanne Tessier found her punishment too severe.

Yes, it heated up very fast here around noon, so off went the attic fan and on went the central A/C. It's popped on a couple of times this afternoon.

We have not gotten the rain the forecasters said was certain to arrive today.

What did I buy during the DD sale? Basically box sets of things I couldn't find decent prices for when they were first released: the Bette Davis/Warners box, MURDER SHE WROTE-Season 8, BURN NOTICE, WILL & GRACE-7, FORBIDDEN HOLLYWOOD 2, FOX WESTERN COLLECTION, CARMEN MIRANDA COLLECTION, etc.

Like that Miss Doolittle, Lord Peter dropped the "h".

I finished up THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO this afternoon. I never watched this show when it was on during the 1970s, so I have had a wonderful time finally watching it. The stories are pretty well constructed, and Malden and Douglas make a fine team. They worked in a love interest for Michael Douglas in the last episode in the set, and I couldn't stand the girl, so I hope she's not around when Volume 2 comes out.

The first STREETS episode I watched involved a witness against the mob wiped out by a hitman. But how did the hitman know where to get to the informant. Obviously someone on the inside, a cop on the case. The top two suspects: a friend of Malden's (played by Peter Mark Rickman) and a friend of Douglas' (played by Mariette Hartley). Which star has the friend who finked? Good set-up but they tipped their hand too soon. I had no idea which one was guilty until they gave it away too early in the episode.

I forgot to mention that a very young looking Robert Foxworth was also a guest star in the episode. Love seeing these actors early in their careers guesting on these shows.

Hasn't arrived yet. It was in my second order placed on Tuesday, and it'll be late next week before it gets to me even though the order was packed and shipped the day I ordered it!

The second episode I watched (to complete the set) had Henry Silva as an escaped convict on a killing spree who takes a husband and wife hostage, rapes the wife, and leaves the husband threatening to kill her if he squeals to the police.

Heading down now. I'll probably watch another MURDER SHE WROTE before getting my courage up for the uber-violence of GANGS OF NEW YORK.

This morning my right foot hit a metal post (bare feet)(in my house).

I have never seen anything like this before. It ballooned up to like 3 times it's size immediately. It was scary. Just that one part of the foot (on the top of my foot to the right, about midway).

Luckily it went down to 2X and then 1X bigger. But it is hard to walk and it hurts.

At first i thought it was a bone sticking out or something. Very crazy.

This hospital sits on a pretty high hill and I'm on the 4th floor, facing west.  In the foreground, I can watch the traffic on I-75 and in the sky we're watching thunderstorms rolling in.  On TV, we're watching the men's gymnastics trials and just watching those landings makes me hurt.

re: last night's DAYTIME EMMYS.

I really enjoyed it.

I liked the hosts a lot. And the new format.

And a bunch of my favs did win.

I was especially happy for Jeanne Cooper (katherine chancellor on Y&R). She has been on the show forever and never won an emmy! (she is 70++).

I'm done working with Mr. Spirtas - structure of show seems fine, lots of dialogue to tweak, which I'll do in rehearsal on Monday, and there'll be a few numbers to really stage (other than just moving around).

Someone is bringing CDs over, although I'll believe it when he gets here.  He called early this morning and said he'd probably be in my neck o' the woods by three.  Having been down this road MANY times, he'll either just not show up or it will be more like six.
