Coming soon to a movie theatre near you...

J.J. Abrams bought the rights to this story, just recently published in the NY Times...

DR Edi - condolences on the death of your cousin.  It sounds like you "lost" her long ago.

I am here in the hospital for another day or two.  My "I & R" is coming up gradually as a result of 2 kinds of blood thinners, but needs to be between 2 & 3.  I can't remember what I & R means.

Other never miss childhood shows for me were Annie Oakley with Gail Davis, and Wild Bill Hickock with Guy Madison.

Listening to the third and final disc in the new 3CD set of The Outer Limits soundtrack music by Dominic Frontiere - quite excellent.

My wife's favorite childhood show was also ANNIE OAKLEY.  I, however, was more into WILD BILL HICKOCK and HOPALONG CASSIDY.

DR Edi - condolences on the death of your cousin.  It sounds like you "lost" her long ago.

They were the cousins that we were closest to as kids, but since we never lived near them and spent most summers moving, we would only see them once or twice a year. This cousin was the step-daughter of my mom's sister, and older than my other cousins (about 6 years older than me) so I always thought of her as the wild, cool cousin. I got her hand-me-down clothes, which were always expensive, Town and Country clothes that I would never be seen wearing (I adopted more of a "granola" look, much to my mother's disappointment) but she was always someone I looked up to. She smoked even in high school so the emphysema didn't surprise me. She had been estranged to her family for many, many years. I made a trip to Ohio one summer when she was going to visit and she seemed like a completely different person. She stayed in touch with her mother's father untl the grandmother died, so that's how we kept track of how she was doing.

Last year, her two half-sisters visted her in Boulder. She was not pleased about it but by the end she said she was glad that they had come. I'm glad that they were able to see her.

They are trying to honor her by including Buddhist elements in her memorial service, which she would have wanted, while also including Christian elements, which the family would want.

I am curious how many Dear Readers have attended their high shcool reunions, and which anniversary they were that they attended?  I attended my 10-year, which is when I was at my hottest (all down hill since then); and now I will be going to my 40th in October (unless I can figure out a way to get out of it.

I attended the ten and twenty, missed the thirty because no one got hold of me, and attended the forty three years ago.

Don't miss TV shows in chronoligical order:
HUCKLEBERRY HOUND
TOP CAT
LASSIE (always made me cry so hard my mom would send me to bed and then come in to tell me that Lassie was OK.)
OUTER LIMITS/TWILIGHT ZONE/ALFRED HITCHCOCK
THE MONKEES
THE PRISONER

Der Brucer, I am now going to have to dig out my Forbidden Broadway CD that has the number "How Are Things In Irish Drama?" after seeing "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," last night.  Let me say that this production was very good and my friend Kim, whom I have only seen in comedies, was very, very good as the daughter.  The mother was good too, but Kim is my friend, so I think she was better. ;)

Well, gee George, the mother is my friend; so couldn't they both be good?

I attended my 20th, 35th & 45th.

I'm not sure if I'll attend my 50th, which will be next summer.

Most of the people that I would have wanted to see are no longer with us.

I went to my 10th high school reunion, which drove home to me just how irrelevant HS was to my life by that point.  The last time I heard of a planned event was 10 years ago, the 30th, but I was unable to go because of work.  If there's a 40th planned for this year, I haven't heard about it.

I'm not sure if commercial plugs are allowed on this board, so forgive me if they're not.

However, if any of you folk live in San Antonio, TX: I'll be doing a signing  for my new novel, SHADOW WATCHER, tomorrow (Monday, the 23rd) at 7 pm at the Remember the Alibi Mystery Bookstore.

Please stop by and say "Hello".

I'll also be doing a signing next Saturday (28) at the Borders Books on Lamar St. in Austin, TX, at 2 pm.

Enof of commercial.

Any signings coming up in the Pacific Northwest?

Sunday morning greetings to all. I have two remaining shows today- I will remember to bring my camera with me so I can finally take some pictures. As a bonus, the lovely Ben and Ant will be in attendance today.

Isn't Slingshot going to be there?

Darling of the Day also has one of the most produced demo recordings I've ever heard--completely orchestrated with a BIG orchestra, very well sung.  Even Mr. Mandelbaum himself couldn't tell me who was on it (IIRC he had never even heard it, which shocked me).

I survived the Bar Mitzvah.  Now I have been to some big Bar Mitzvahs, including some Beverly Hills BM's (hmmmm.....how unseemly) with some A-listers in attendance.  But never before have I been to one where, like last night, all of the men and the young male children, were in TUXEDOS!  I could not believe it.

None planned at this point, although I am a native of Seattle.  Graduated Garfield High and the U of W.

I had a signing for my first novel, NOBODY DROWNS IN MINERAL LAKE, in the Seattle area in 1999.  That one was set in Washington State, but SHADOW WATCHER takes place in Los Angeles and Texas, though there is one chapter set in Seattle.

There is a possibility that my wife and I might visit Seattle in November, and if that happens, I'll probably do a signing somewhere.

Thanks for asking.
