Shortly I shall be on my way to rehearsal.  Mr. McDermott is not feeling well, so tonight will just be Kevin.  Apparently, this is, I'm told, a "thing" and it's one that will have to stop.  The fact that we had three rehearsals and we won't have half the act in one of them is not good.  It's always fascinating that months go by without illness, and then when one has a three day period in which to rehearse, illness occurs for one of the rehearsals.

Well, I suspect it will be an omen of bad luck as it will likely crawl on my while I am driving on the freeway, scaring the bejeebers out of me thus causing a multi car pile-up on I-5 with my poor Hyundai and I at the bottom of the twisted wreckage.

Well, why don't you remove him (or kill him) before you drive anywhere?

Because he could be anywhere, hiding.  And if you start looking for something like a spider, it will surely find YOU.

I'm having a sucky week. The quandary is, do I tell this singer who told me on Friday the 13th that the check should arrive in the next week and told me on Friday the 20th the check had been mailed - although it curiously hasn't arrived yet - that I will never do any more work for him, or do I let it slide?

Personally, I would hold off until the check actually arrives, and then carefully check the postmark.  It wouldn't be the first time (perhaps the second) that the Post Office was at fault and NOT the singer.

I still haven't received the DVD to Company that I ordered on June 9th. :P

I'm kind of sorry I did receive the DVD of "Company."   ;D

I enoucrage anyone looking for an entertaining two hours to tune in to "America's Got Talent" on NBC tonight at 9.

Last week's show had a few really incredible moments that made the entire two hours worthwhile (IMO)!

I just read that late actor Brian Kelly (who allegedly was supposed to play Robin Stone in the film version of "The Love Machine", a part that went to John Philip Law after Kelly had his debilitating motorcycle accident) was the uncle of Brian d'Arcy James.

I read it at IMDb.

Why do you suppose DR MBarnum behaves like one of Pavlov's pups whenever Mr D'Arcy James is mentioned?

The Stewart Granger thing is just plain weird.  Normally, if I'd seen a movie with him, or even a trailer or even an image or even if someone had mentioned him recently, then I'd understand it.

I had either "missed" or "forgotten" the earlier announcement.  Others might have also.  We don't all have photographic memories, Jo!   ;D

Well, get one, Ro!  ;D

*However, I believe the last time the DR MBarnum mentioned that tidbit may have been as long as his trip to New York City when he and DR elmore saw Brian D'Arcy James in a play.

**However, maybe if he had bolded that fact and/or increased the font size and/or put it in color...

Don't ALW songs teach themselves?     ::)

Not really.  The "actual" melodies do teach themselves more or less, however, the harmonies and arrangements that have been "put upon" those melodies can get quite intricate and tricky at times.

-And trying to "teach" two Australian women, two English women and one Swiss woman how to sound like "Soul Sisters" (for "Jesus Christ Superstar") has proven especially challenging.

My thought would be to wait for the letter and check the postmark to see when, in fact, it hit the P.O. It would be embarrassing to go-off on him and then get a letter with a Feb 16 cancellation.

What TCB said.

Perhaps you could suggest to the singer that he or she put a stop payment on the check, since it is obviously lost and tell him or her that a new check can be hand delivered to you, as you no longer trust the postal service.

...And I did head out for a bit of a walk and exploring.  It turns out that right next* to the hotel is a strip mall that happens to have a couple of restaurants: Longhorn Steakhouse, Sweet Tomatoes, Champps, Jerry's Sub Shop, Jamba Juice, Moonlite Diner, a Chinese/Japanese takeout place called Shue Mei, and a place called the "Bread Shop" that seems to feature some South American specialties (alas, they closed at 6:30, but their menu looked good and cheap!).  Alas, no grocery store.

There's also a quite huge Office Depot with a quite huge Copy and Print Shop that has its own storefront, as well as a Regal Cinemas complex.  *And I was sort of surprised to see that movies here are only a $1.00 cheaper than they are in NYC.

And it was pretty cheap, with the DeepDiscount discount code.
