BK I will look into the links and missing pictures and book pages. I didn't know about the missing links and photos unless someone tells me. There are almost 500 separate pages on the website.

Laura,

The net shows US Air flying their non-stop PHX-FAT-PHX on Saturday.

DerB: Hmm. I checked again all the Saturdays, and the last Saturday they have those flights is Aug 16. I am going after that.  Grr.

Good morning, all! Back to Ms Criswell's orchestra parts, and that's how I will spend all of today and perhaps most of tomorrow.

"New" musicals: too much sturm und drang over an adjective. The only things this debate is good for are publicity, hostility, and needless angst. The word "new" implies exactly what it is to an audience. If a show has received no major production, no subsequent tour, no film and/or Zadan-Meron butchershop job for television, chances are the only persons it isn't new to are the writers. The David Evans-Winnie Holzman musical AMATEURS had a major full-scale production at Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park several years before it ended up at the Promenade as BIRDS OF PARADISE, so I see no problem wth calling THE TIMES a new show.

TOD:

Look at this photo: besides looking like a bad Irish play, does this photo say anything about dieting tips/tricks????

DR elmore3003 - you might want to check.  It appears that there's been a fourth volume of the Britten edition issued.

DR singdaw, many thanks! One of the things I miss most about the Drama Book Shop was the burst of catalogs for new books every spring and fall. I would have known about and ordered the fourth volume by now.

I tried out the ankle on the trails today. I stayed off the mountain, but I walked where it wasn't always smooth underfoot. It felt good to stretch things. I walked until the leg felt tired. I probably burned all of 75 calories.

When I wish to lose a few pounds, I give up four things:
  1. Mammals
  2. Birds
*3. Fat (except olive oil)
  4. Sugar

*This includes fried food and most junk and processed food.

re: diet tricks

I think exercise is important. So for BK, jogging will help A LOT.

I've tried to cut back a lot on carbs (breads, pasta, rice ...). They make it so easy to pack on the pounds.

And cut out sweets.

Lots of vegetables and fruits. Although i think i would say in the beginning not to eat that many fruits a day because some have a lot of carbs.

I think eating only one meal a day is not good for a person's system at all.

I'm not a huge breakfast person though (i just don't get hungry in the morning). But i try to have a snack of fruit at least in the morning.

And 2 medium meals. And one or 2 snacks.

And i would say (re: losing weight) to try to stay away from a lot of processed and packaged foods. Try to eat things that are fresh.

And look at the labels on all sauces and dressings. Most of them are full of sugar!

On tv tonight for me:

Canadian Idol.

Hell's Kitchen (finale i think).

Top Chef (really like this season so far).

I will try I Survived a Japanese game show one more time.

And I must say i am slightly hooked on the E! reality show (that are on tonight here) Denise Richards and The Lohans one.

Everything I have read and been told by a nutritionist confirms this 110%.   :)

Larry - Very wise definition of "new" musical, looking at it from the audience perspective.

Good morning!

How great that the temps went down last night, and I could open up the house to fresh air all night long and all morning long. Sure, I'll have to close everything up by noon, but I'll be able to do it again tonight, too, so that makes me very happy indeed.

THE NCIS episode airing tonight is once again a rerun from the previous season (which I have on DVD), so I'll be spending the evening watching other things on packaged media and not on TV or cable networks.

I would LOVE it if THE CLOSER's new box set arrived today, but I can't reasonably hope for it until tomorrow (it shipped Sunday morning according to Amazon).

It appears as if CBS is airing the last half dozen episodes of NCIS from season 4 before launching into airing repeats of this season's shortened season leading into the season six premiere in late September.

I'll be spending most of the afternoon and early evening on SUPERHERO MOVIE, another in the endless stream of movie parodies by David Zucker and company. I expect the film will be a catch-all of barbs at all the superhero tentpole films that dominate every summer season, but even at their weakest, there usually are a few gags that work, so it should be a moderately pleasant 82 minutes.
