DR Jrand - As for Amish Acres doing State Fair: Yes, it was quite the big deal. Richard Pletcher, the producer and owner of Amish Acres somehow managed to secure the rights to the show before anyone else - and they weren't even "publicly" on the market yet. That was actually quite a big season for them since they brought in Scott Schwartz to direct The Baker's Wife too - and had his father, Stephen, come in for the opening night. And the stage there is actually named in honor of Joseph Stein. If anyone is interested, you can check out:

And to tie this thread up, I made a very dear friend that summer, Leigh. -And trust me, at that time, we all needed good friends.

OK - Back to packing. Clothes are done - Now for the kitchen... *I'm afraid I'm going to have to throw away a bunch of perishables - I hate when that happens, but I'll see what I can throw into a cooler with some ice. -OH, and then it's on to all the "little things" that have accumulated over the past 12 weeks.. Hmm... Maybe I will head back in the morning.. Hmmm...

How exciting! A very young me is in that film! You won't find me if you blink (in a couple of scenes) - but what fun it was. I've posted before about how I almost missed one of my mother's weddings because rehearsal ran over and Tessie O'Shea stole my cab. And how Jack Palance refused to let a stunt double run across the rafters and he (Palance) fell to the very hard floor of the CBC studio, badly injuring his back so that he couldn't even lift the girls (including me - and I ain't heavy).

TCM has shown the complete TARZAN AND HIS MATE before, because I taped it. This was at least a year ago and maybe longer. It was actually around the time an uncut videotape of TARZAN AND HIS MATE was released, so that would probably make it something like three or four years ago before DVDs became so popular.

I spent a lovely afternoon inside (it's raining off and on here and overcast) watching THE DRESSER. Albert Finney was tremendously better than I remembered him being when I saw the film in the theater all those years ago.

I think I'm going MAD sooner than expected. I got my mail (nothing from JR yet!) and as I was carrying it in I heard music playing from the packages. I assumed it was another one of those trick Emmy tapes (like the singing Joan of Arcadia). But now I've opened all the packages - the final FRIENDS episodes, "24"; ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT...and none of them is a musical package. Was I hallucinating that my mail was playing upbeat tunes?... Possibly.

I am waiting for a call to pick Echo up from getting groomed. I dropped her off at 10 this morning and just returned from running errands. If the call comes in I shall be off again before catching up on the posts.

Well, I'm done packing - more or less - well, thankfully, more than less, so... I'm also thinking that I'll just stay the night here instead of heading back to Richmond in the wee hours of the morning. This way I can also spend some time with my nephew in the morning - and drop off some of the perishables that would have no problem making the ten minute trip to my parents house, but would probably not survive the two hour trip back down to Richmond. *And I won't have to feel bad about throwing away all that food.

I am leaving now, Dear Readers, for a sojourn to Ojai, California to attend one of the concerts in this year's Ojai Music Festival.

(If I leave now, it will take me about 90 minutes to get there. If I leave in an hour, it will take me about three hours to get there!)

The concerts are held in an intimate outdoor amphitheatre. The second half of tonight's program is comprised of Die Kluge (which translates as "The Wise Woman"), a rarely performed opera by Carl Orff. Of course, Mr. Orff is best known for that perennial concert hall (and movie trailer) favorite, Carmina Burana.

I won't be home until late, so keep the home fries burning, Dear Readers out there in the dark.

I’m SO excited. I’m sorry I haven’t read notes/post yet but I have to jump ahead and share this with you all. I couldn’t wait to tell you about it.

Guess what I saw today?? A real live WATERSPOUT! I have always wanted to see either a waterspout or a tornado (not that I want anyone or anything to be hurt so I could see one) and I finely saw one!

It was so beautiful. It was just a small one. It looked about as thick as a pencil and only lasted a few minutes but it was something to see. So graceful. Like a ribbon floating in the sky.

Why, oh, why didn't I have my camera with me! I wish you all could have been there to see it.

I have to go tell some other people about it. Be back later!!!
