Just listened to "Judy [Garland] at the Grove" today on CD for the first time.  Boy, that band is crackerjack!  Judy's voice sounds a little worn, but she's still exciting.

So, DR Jane...are you watching "Greatest American Dog"?   :)

No.  Should I be?  I will go check it out.

DR Jane.  I dunno.  There's something repellantly cheesy about the reality shows that I've sampled.  I just thought, you know, that the dogs might redeem it somewhat.  And from what DR JoseSPiano said, maybe the dog owners, too.  ;)

Whew!  I'm getting tired.  I guess I may just have to par-tay at some other point over the weekend.

I found "Greatest American Motorcycle", no dogs.

I did notice STARGATE:ATLANTIS returns tonight. :)

It's back to VBS for the ice cream social to sing the cheesy songs for the parents. Then it's over for a year!!

Hello!  I don't know much.  Paul needed to escape the heat so I left work early and we went to the last matinee showing of "Wanted"  We both laughed and laughed.  No one else in the theater laughed.  How can they not think that movie is funny?  Well, there is lots of blood, violence and death but still

According to a reviewer we like:
“High-octane action; silly but with great visual flair.”

My mom told me on the phone today that next week is "Mamma Mia" week on Lifetime.  I just sat through 2 episodes of Reba  :P  to find out what that means.  Apparently, the 9pm movie each night next week is "hosted" by cast members.

Darlingest, dearest, loveliest PennyO, I would never dare to compete with such a talented lady! I think the 3-player idea was wonderful, and i'm sure the scoring sounds great and proves to be exactly what the play needs.

You'd have been so proud of me, babe! I traded the melodic lines between the clarinet and cello, and had them in 6ths harmonies, and wrote some lovely little counter melody phrases!!! It was so much fun!!!!! Still, YOU da man!!

And, yes, I joined DR elmore for a lovely dinner - sans margarita for me.

Fun, fun, fun.  Dish, dish, dish.

Hiya Penny!

Prayers and vibes for your sister!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you my angel! I just got my sister home and upstairs into her OWN BED! She's so happy to be home. I'll make her a decent dinner - god, she lost so much weight! The food was so awful - I brought her two different meals yesterday... she hadn't eaten in days!
Oh, sorry I just missed DR PennyO!  Sending healing vibes to her sister and patient-care vibes to Penny - you're a peach!
Thanks, Gins! She is making wonderful progress each day, considering what she has been through. She is WAY easier to care for than my parents were... she's sweet and gracious and appreciative, like our Grandmother was...
It didn't happen to be Armen Ksajikian, did it? I LOVE him!
Wow, that came together fast! Congratulations, Penny O! I'm glad you didn't adopt the current trend of making the actors play their own instruments!
there are some actors who are competent players - but when that's the prerequisite to getting the acting part, how can the acting not be compromised??? I like it when the actors are hired to act - and if musicians are needed, we hire the best ones we can afford, and let them play instruments!
There are no accidents.
I went to get my hair cut today. I go to a place that is two cities north of me. (Boynton Beach) On the way home I stopped off at a Super Target. And lo and behold I ran into an old friend who I haven't seen in ten years. We first met on a show I co-wrote (Lysistrata: The Musical) and from there we cowrote and I directed his one man show Survivors: A Kurt Weill Songspiel. We caught up we promised not to let another 10 years go by. I pulled out the videos of the shows that we did.
God! Lysistrata needed a lot of work. I wanted to do a lot rewrites during the rehearsal, but because the new scenes were not with Lysistrarta the director nixed it. (The director and the actress were going out at the time.
So many of the jokes that looked good on paper died on the stage. I would have loved to done the show again. But the composer wanted to move on. This was done 15 years ago!! The subject of the story still holds true today.
There really is some good writing in there and some good songs, but if played NYC it would have opened and closed on opening night!
Maybe I will put the better parts up on YouTube. Once I download it to my computer.
Penny-Please send Rikki our best wishes for a complete recovery.  Hopefully this will be the last of her surgeries.
Thanks, Jane. I'll tell her. From your mouth to God's ear! Her surgeon is hopeful that he's fixed her, and she'll have her life back. Fingers x'd.
DR PennyO - I've learned in the past month that, as a patient, it's best to be like your sister.  What good would being crabby do?
Vibes to PennyO's sister Rikki... I hope she makes a speedy recovery!!
Thank you, m'dear! She has always been athletic, and in pretty good shape, so she does bounce back better than most. I'm guessing that, if i can keep her from running the world for the next week or so, she'll have a good recovery.
You're not on blood thinners, too, are you, DR Jose?
Nah.  Since my allergies have been acting up lately, I'm staying away from "adult beverages" since they seem to enhance my symptoms.
*I also saved those calories for dessert.  While I was walking down Broadway to Columbus Circle, I stopped into Jacques Torres for one of his/their Ice Cream Sandwiches: a generous(!) dollop of chocolate ice cream between two of their generous chocolate chip cookies.  I probably should have just eaten half of it and stopped.  Probably.  ;)
Jacques Torres is actually a block off of Broadway, on Amsterdam and 73rd.  Just a block down from Levain.  ;)
