We now have a hands free device for our rarely used cell phone. We've had it for a week and I used it to activate it, to call the apartment to make sure it works, to call Anthony to tell him it works and to tell him the number and that's all. I bought the device because you can't use standard headphones, the plug is too big. It comes with a microphone also so if/when Anthony or I use it we will look hip and with it

No Blue-Tooth headset/earpiece?  ;)

We also have a new caller ID box. I thought all boxes automatically showed incoming call waiting numbers but the unit I have is small and cheap and never showed those numbers. I came across another box today that specifically mentions call waiting so I'll spend some time switching out the boxes. That's the news from Chelsea.

Welcome to the 1990's DR Ben!!!!

I should have said something yesterday. I'm not a bachelor yet but I have been alone this weekend. Anthony stayed on Long Island to get ready for the trip to Wisconsin. I left work and went uptown to look at the TKTS booth. There was nothing on that interested me (and the line was too long) so I came home. I could have joined dear Larry and Jose for Mexican food and a margarita. We haven't had Mexican for a while and I haven't seen Dear Larry and Jose for too long! Oh, well, soon I'll be a bachelor with lots of free time on my hands.

Yes.

And DR elmore3003 has "Bi-Ruty, Lavi."    ;D

I have no idea what the hell that means, DR singdaw!

I'm so bummed! I worked for over an hour on the critical notes and the computer froze and didn't save any of my work. I just redid it and now I am off to NYPL. Damn!

I had a very frightening "blair witch" kind of dream last night; you don't suppose she's responsible? And last week, my computer did suddenly come to life on its own around 1 am. Between the ghost(s) and the ightmares, I'm scared.

I'm also outa here. NYPL calls me.

OK - Well, I need to get ready to head down to Shubert Alley. I am meeting up with BK's close personal friend, Walter Willison, to attend Bernadette Peters' booksigning in conjunction with "Broadway Barks".  Fun, Fun, Fun.  Crazy, Crazy, Crazy!

DR ArnoldMBrockman,

SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES! HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP

In honor of your trip we went to services last night. I've never been to Shabbat services quite like this.  The rabbi said little while the cantor and her musicians performed most of the service.

I met Paul for coffee this morning.  He told me to pick out my favorite from his stencil show at the art center and he'll make one for me.  Cool!

Cool!  Will there be a photo for us to see?

My recent stay at the Arlington VA Ritz Carlton was the best value for the buck I've had, with a special $149 weekend rate.  But my favorite overall rooms that I can remember right now were at the Polynesian in Disney World in 1995 and the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta in 1984, with a nod to the well-located Britannia Intercontinental in London.

Still, the thrilling view of Epcot in 2000 from the Dolphin on my 40th birthday was the best combo of timing and location, even if the hotel itself and service attitude there were a big disappointment for the bucks paid.

I still say the nicest and most unusual place I've ever stayed was the Las Brisas in Acapulco: bungalows on the side of a cliff, each unit had its own pool, and each bungalo was furnished its own pink jeep to get down the cliff to the road.

Regarding hotels, I must constantly remind myself when staying in an especially nice place dollar-wise, that while to me it's a splurge and a special occasion, for the hotel employees it's just another day at work, no different than any other work day even though I want my stay there to be a special event.  :)

That service principle was never more evident to me than at the Dolphin in Orlando.
