I could add the tomatoes Jane. (But not if they were in anyway cooked or pickled!)

DR Jane, yep Allen is my favorite brother...although I don't think he knows that! LOL! But he is a good guy, and yes his youngest son is in Iraq, which keeps us all on pins and needles!

Media check:

VHS: Surfside 6, Hawaiian Eye, and in a few moments 77 Sunset Strip and Cheyenne all taped off of Goodlife Network.

CD: JAPAN: Songs of a Season by 101 Strings.

DVD: IN THE NAVY starring Abbott and Costello.

And this weeks Bollywood movie is:

DO KALIYAN (1968). Long lost identical sisters meet at summer camp and attempt to reunite their seperated parents....hmmmm....sounds a bit familiar doesn't it!  Well, Baby Soniya is no Haley Mills, but it is a cute film!

Jane - I wonder what it is about beets that makes many people - like you - abhor them? I happen to be a big fan of beets. What in particular don't you like about them?

Oh, I forgot that I had a double feature Bollywood...here is the other movie...TAAL (2001)...typical love triangle which is what 95 percent of Bollywood movies seem to be about...oh, and some people sing in it too.

I did discover a new favorite current Bollywood actor...Akshaye Khanna...he is the one with the dimple in his chin!  :D

I don't believe he has done Barnum!

And the beet goes on. Still no answer, bk? I've repeated my query and I'm eagerly waiting to be enlightened.

I watched my copy of BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING tonight. The picture was beautiful with sharp detail and wonderful contrast, one of the best TCM broadcasts I've seen in quite a while.

The picture's ending goes on too long once the perp is revealed, but up until then, the suspense is palpable with great use of some nice red herrings.

Never liked beets Panni. Neither did my dad. He didn't eat them until senility set in! My mother and sister like them. I don't like the "earthy" taste and I don't like anything pickled - vinegar! Ugh!

HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE was on the Fox Movie Channel tonight, too, and I watched the first hour of it. It looked quite wonderful as well (although not letterboxed). Wonder if Fox has remastered it in preparation for an imminent DVD release. I haven't read anything about it coming out, but it looked very good.

Just to add my two cents' worth, I don't like beets in any way, shape, or form.

I’m here.  We were out on the lawn with Echo enjoying the summer like evening.

I once had fresh raw beets in a salad and was shocked they tasted okay.  But pickled beets or borscht-no way.  I find pickled beets completely overwhelm every other flavor around them, and then there is the juice that spreads all over the place.  If the beets touch other food then that food is ruined for me.  I even have trouble tolerating the smell.

Tomovoz, I hope I’m not sounding insensitive but I find your statement interesting.  Would your father eat beets because he couldn’t taste what he was eating?

But the best part is how the beet juice turns the ranch dressing pink.

I get the impression the feeling is mutual. :)

I wish we could get the Goodlife Network.
