Well, it has been a couple of days since I have been in here.  Finished my 1st week at the new job.  Still overwhelmed but am getting somewhat familiar so cross your fingers for me.  Friday night, sis and I went to The Police/Elvis Costello concert in Vancouver, Washington.  Then last night I had a Junior High/Elementary School Reunion.  Had a blast!  I was never popular in school but it seemed like everyone was so happy to see me and all the guys were hugging me! I was loving EVERY minute of it! :)

We had tilapia, wild rice and sauteed squash for dinner and some fresh fruit for dessert. I went shopping this morning before Anthony came back from Long Island. I already had the tilapia but he brought back a huge squash from Rose and Phil's garden. I cut it in half and sauteed it and it was delish.

YUM!!!!

I'm fine with the 2 people who went home on Design Star.  From the preview it looks like next week is the week the carpenter I met in Panera is on.

So the big push to get ready for trial starts tomorrow.  I'm pretty comfortable with what I want to do in general and my over all defense. So I should be able to pull it all together without too many problems.  We have revised our estimate of the length of trial.  I'm guessing we may be done with evidence by July 29th or so.  I can't believe it's almost here.  This has been such an insane little stretch of time since I started this in May.   I am so ready to do this.

DR JulieC40 - sounds like you had a fun weekend to top off a stressful week.  Here's to your second week on the job!

I enjoyed all of the things I watched tonight.

I finished the last four remaining episodes of TV FUNHOUSE. The show has some good gags, but honestly, it's SO repetitive with its concentration on the sexual habits of its puppet animals.

I also watched all of the bonus features on the discs. There were some deleted scenes and outtakes. And, as always, three Comedy Central promos for other shows on DVD: THE COLBERT REPORT, THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM, and SOUTH PARK.

Oh, I am. I let myself get too worn down over the past month or two so I've almost cleared the calendar this week. I'm going to do as much as possible during the day and will get my sleep.

And I'll stop on the way to work in the morning and get another bouquet of roses.

Next, I watched CLOVERFIELD on Blu-ray. Once again, the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio track was earthshakingly fabulous. No, no camcorder could possibly have recorded such an audio mix, but for a show this much fun, I don't mind throwing logic out the window.

After that, I watched another episode of BURN NOTICE. This was the one after Fi and Michael had slept together, and she was using a guy being hunted by a bounty hunter to make Michael jealous. The story had multiple parts with Michael manipulating a jewel thief, a foreign agent (trying to get some leverage so he could find out why he was burned), the bounty hunter.

This was one of the busiest episodes of the season, but the writers kept everything balanced and interesting. I really enjoyed seeing it again.

And I concluded my evening with tonight's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. A pretty good episode, and I did guess the identity of the murderer though my ideas about the motive were a little off. Joan Jett was the most famous name in the guest star list.

You know, I always see different types of squash at the store and I want to buy some but have no idea how to cook it...an example of how to sautee squash would be most welcome.

My neighbor on the south side of me is mowing his lawn...his lawnmower is on it's last leg, from the sound of it...and from the smell of it...well, lots of gas in the air which is wafting in through my living room window.

I am in the midst of another Bollywood movie...AJOOBA KUDRAT KAA (1991) (translation: You are a Miracle of Nature)...about a little girl who tries to protect a murderous abominable snowman.

If you never thought a Yeti would be involved in a musical number...well, you will have to rethink that.

Slice up the squash in cubes.  Put in a hot pan with some butter and/or oil.  Saute until tender.  Season with salt and pepper.

*Although, the "hard-skinned" squashes - acorn, spaghetti, etc. - are best prepared by roasting or steaming.

Here's a basic recipe from the Food Network:

4 to 5 zucchini
4 to 5 yellow crookneck squash
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Slice zucchini and squash very thin. Heat olive oil and saute onion until tender. Add zucchini and squash. Toss until tender and crisp. Add salt and pepper. Serve immediately (if it sits to long it will become mushy).

*The recipe can easily be halved or quartered.
