I'll reiterate again, that since starting this diet and jogging routine I have not had one single evening of heartburn or acid reflux no matter how many onions or how much garlic or spicy food I consume.  And you'll all be happy to know that despite my loathing of water, I've been drinking two bottles a day and I'm down to two Diet Cokes a day.  I have never before only had two Diet Cokes in a day - always three to six, so that's a major thing, I should think.

I think the most important thing in any such regimen is positive reinforcement.

Good for you, Bruce!  Keep it up!

That said, I commend you on breaking the "coke" habit, diet or otherwise.  Diet Coke has caffeine, yes?  Or do you get the non-caffeinated variety?  Caffeine is the hardest addiction to break since it's such a pleasurable experience and, generally, not unhealthy.  

Make notes of your changes in diet, mood and physiological changes. Those notes will be quite eye-opening as the weeks pass and they'll motivate you even further, IMO.

JulieC, I'm not sure if you misunderstood me or I misunderstood you, but the QC call is between the temp service and the client.  You need to check with them to see if everything's "working out."  On a temp-to-hire situation, the SOP is to check in the first day, and then at the end of the first week, and if everything's fine by the end of the first week, usually you're home free.  What I bet happened is they weren't able to get through to whomever on your assignment on your first Friday, and then that scumbag (because that's obviously what they are, no?) called on Monday to complain and told them you needed to be replaced ASAP, hence your Staffing Coordinator showing up on your assignment, which is very unusual (at least it was back in the day).

Oh, okay, I understand now.  However, I had felt that it was not proper business etiquette to show up at my work place.  They should have called me Friday night after work or if they didn't know till Monday, they could have left a message with someone for me to call them as soon as possible.  I felt really humiliated because people were asking me where I was going and why I was packing up to leave.

I've done caffeine-free DC for as long as it's been on the market.

I enjoyed last night's MOLE. And thought the recap show (with new footage) was quite good as well.

From Yesterday by JMK, "As a former manager of a couple of temp services, I can tell you there's nothing more dreaded than the client calling and saying, "Please replace....".  Usually you're home free if you make it past the first day QC (Quality Control in temp service lingo) and then end of first week QC calls."

I hadn't even been put on the phones yet so they didn't have the chance to hear me handle a call.  Interesting, huh?

I was very shocked to hear the job didn't work out & how it ended.  Even more shocked how you were informed.  I don't suppose they paid you for the entire day.

DR Jennifer, I used to make my own mayo, it was light and very tasty.  I rinse my eggs well with hot water before breaking them, when the eggs will be raw I also wash them with soap.  I stopped making my own mayo because I enjoy Hellman's/Best Foods so much.  If I had to use a different brand I would make my own again.

RE: HOW DO I SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA (the canadian search for the new Maria in the new toronto production of the Sound Of Music).

The show is okay. But there are so many things that could make it so much better. They keep getting rid of 2 at a time. Which i find to be a lot.
When you compare it to the Search for Elle woods show, i definitely prefer that one. At least there they are doing scenes from the show. Singing songs from the show.

On M? they are singing random songs that simon (the head judge) chooses. And they really tell us nothing about who would be good as maria. They don't do any scenes from the show (they do sing group numbers from the show, but it doesn't show us each one alone). They don't act with the other castmates who are already chosen.

And ALW is not there (he is coming next week), which should make things a lot better.

The weird thing is last night there was a B3. And the judges (and previous fan fav) was in the bottom. As was the larger girl.

So i knew they would keep their fav.

Surprisingly my fav is now one of the top contenders. She was in the bottom 2 or 3 weeks ago. But since her sing-off (the bottom girls sing off), she has been in the top every week.

And another girl who i don't think is right for the show, was in the top 3 last night (only 4 are left now).

Apparently the fans actually get to decide the winner (with 2 remaining). Before then the head judge can always keep their fav.

Now at almost 1 p.m., it is 100 degrees and 30% humidity.

I made some tuna pasta salad before I left to run errands. I used bow ties and added red onion, celery, and broccoli flowers.

Had a nice telephonic conversation with Mr. Robert Harris, he of film preservation, and must now do some errands.
