Hope you mean DR Elan, as I am way too far gone as a parent.  ;)

Doesn't your "behave ot I'll throw you to the sharks" threat still work?

"Shimmy Shimmy Coco Bop"!

(I used to think it was "Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Pop!", because of the cereal "Cocoa Pops").

Me, too!

I think the second link works.  Sorry, folks, I'm not a technical person.

By clicking on the image icon (second row, fifth in from the left) and putinf the link in the middle (between ..g] and [i...)
you get the above result.

I am happy to say my kids have only ever set foot in a McDonald's once or twice in their lives...

Well, I had to cope with parents who take the kids through the drive thru on a regular basis. Grandpa's rule - we go inside and eat our meals toether at a table like civilized people - a small victory! (The younger lad would much rather eat out in a real resturant - he likes salads and shrimp scampi and all that other grown-up stuff; even when we order from the kids menu, or have a pizza, William still wants his salad!)

DR elmore  - The "postponement" of Brigadoon is now official.

I just got a copy of the press release that was being sent around the Rodgers & Hammerstein office.

My child reading advice: if they misbehave, tell the little ones you are going to give them away to the gypsies.

My child rearing advice: kids in comas cause no problems. ;)

It looks like this little NY gig is closer - theater is now booked.  New World Stages - does anyone know it?  Is it nice?  I've heard it's great.

I've just had a lovely visit with a young writer in the BMI workshop named Nate Festinger, who called me up at his father's recommendation. His dad, Kurt Festinger, played reeds for the LACC production and recording of The Brain From Planet X.

BK, I've not seen anything at New World Stages, so I'm no help at all! If anyone has, I'd guess DR Jose or FJL!

That Jet Blue experience sounds horrific.

I just don't get that they did nothing to try to get you another flight. They just expected you to stay in NYC for a week at your own expense?

I would also write a letter. That is ridiculous.

Jet Blue is a low-cost no-frills airline - you get what you pay for.

When forces of nature close down most of the east coast airline network for most of the day at a peak travel time, there is no way Jet Blue. or any other carrier, is going to get you another flight out at a convenient time. Jet Blue did offer them seats on the next available flight - which was Friday.

Of course they expect you to pay for your own accommodations - you purchased no guarantee that weather would not cause flight cancellations (if you are so concerned, then pay for special trip insurance). Concerned travellers can always book back-up flights for the following day before leaving on a trip - but the are refundable tickets and pricey!

If Jet Blue covered lay-over expenses due to weather caused flight cancellations the basic cost of their tickets would be considerably more.

A whiney letter to Jet Blue management will do little good.

I wonder if it will start a trend that Hainsie/Kimlets will follow.  Will we soon see photos of others here on the pot?

I know someone else said this as well.  I think what I stated before was thought to be towards United that it was expensive, which it was but what I meant was the Jet Blue tickets were NOT low cost, believe you me!  So we did not get what we paid for.  :(

This was a very full afternoon of viewing, some for fun and some for work.

I continued watching THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. I've gotten Doris to the Albert Hall, but I had to stop then and get down to work. I'll look forward to finishing this tonight.

Big Brother.......

I love Keesha! I think Jessie needs to be voted off, so as to break up the Jessie/Michelle alliance. I don't think Angie is much of a threat to anyone's game. Memphis is the next one who needs to leave, he scared me last night when he got so mad at Jerry.

OMG we agree! (this must be a first).

I love keesha. I think jessie needs to go. And i don't think angie is a threat.

However, the only point i disagree on is memphis. I like him. And he didn't scare me at all. I really dislike jerry and think he was totally at fault. Jerry is the one who told everyone memphis is a womanizer. And it's probably not true. He has no proof. It's one thing to criticize someone's game or their actions in the house. But jerry went after memphis' reputation. And i think he was right. Jerry is not all innocent. He felt april's breasts and has done quite a few inappropriate things (and he is married, memphis is not!).

We had actually looked for lower cost ways to go and did find them but decided on Jet Blue because we found a lot of reviews that said they were good and had educated ourselves on Jet Blue from other sources as well but much to our dismay we found out too late that their prices had gone up and service level down in the last year or so.

Looks like this little NY thing in December might just happen.  More I cannot say at this time, but if I get a deal memo (I would be donating my services but I'd be flown in and put up), and if I see the guy has booked the theater and everything seems kosher, then I'll let you all know what it is.

Wasn't DR Cillaliz talking a while ago about going to NYC between Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Next, I watched THE AMERICAN MALL. Yep, they took HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL-type actors, plunked them in a mall in the summer instead of at high school, and based a musical around it.

I hate to be petty since at least it IS a musical and until a few years ago, we'd gone so many years without anything resembling a real musical with new scores and choreography, etc. Anyway, this was thoroughly mediocre in every respect. The characters were ciphers, the songs either power ballads or heavy hitting "rock" songs, choreography VERY mundane (at least Kenny Ortega does have a lot of bouncy, rhythmic movement; the moves here were bland and basic), and a by-the-numbers story (boy meets girl - break up when a rich girl offers to fund his band - make back up when he sees the light).

Maybe tweens will love it, but I certainly didn't.

Ah!  Well, that's one "catch" with JetBlue - You really do have to take advantage of their lower fares - BUY! - while they are still available.  As the plane fills up, and as the date gets closer to your departure, the price goes up.  *JetBlue also went through the same "spike" in prices a couple of weeks ago that all the airlines had to institute due to the rising fuel costs.

I don't fly that frequently, but I fly regularly.  I've always had a good experience flying JetBlue.  However, I will say I will usual investigate other carriers since I'd rather not make the trek out to JFK.  LGA is much closer to and more convenient for me.

Regardless of the demeanor of the counter people, I think we all have to remember that the airlines are a means of transportation.  They are not weather forecasters nor foretellers.

There were a bunch of special features on the DVD. 4 music videos of numbers from the movie, a "let's dance" segment where one of the chroegraphers teaches moves for the two big production numbers, deleted scenes, a gag reel, two commentary tracks.

As I said, when it premieres on MYV in about 10 days, it may go over pretty big, but I did find both HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL movies more entertaining.

This I completely understand that...I really do.  It just would have been nice if they said something like, "I'm really sorry for the inconvenience but this is the best we can do at this time.  I wish there was something more I could do."  Just a little empathy would be nice, ya know?

bk - I like New World Stages.  It's a great complex - it used to be known as Dodger Stages.  -In fact, I believe we held a "Hainsie/Kimlet meets Levain Cookies" gathering up on Worldwide Plaza's plaza which is on top of NWS.  It's the complex where Altar Boyz and Naked Boys Singing currently plays among other shows.  None of the theatres are all that large - I think 250 is the largest capacity (maybe 300).  However, lots of special events and fundraisers are held there.  -And they have a great bar/cocktail set-up too.

I totally understand, and I do empathize with you too.  And, yes, they should have your treated you with a bit more tact and compassion.

*I also have a friend who works at JFK - not for JetBlue - but he's also a counter person.  He tries to "put on a happy face" as much as possible during weather delays, but he also wants to make sure he solves and resolves everyone's problems in a timely manner.  -No one likes being the "next person in line", if you get my drift.  If you've had a long day, so has he.  On the bright side, you got to spend a few more days in New York City!  ;)

BRIGADOON spelled backwards is NOODAGIRB.

The very first musical that I ever performed in was in Western Washington University's 1989 production of Brigadoon.  I played Angus McGuffie and was in the chorus.  Friends of mine here in Olympia were in a local production and they always referred to it as "Bridge of Doom." :o I guess there were bridge issues.  :-X

When our DS Rob was a baby, I often thought of that Rodgers & Hart song, "Everyone Loves You When You're Asleep."
