Well, you've read the notes, the notes were recurring and had a theme, and now it is time for you to post until the themed cows come home.

I've watched Destination Saturn and Destination Neptune, but it feels like one of the videos that comes between those is missing.

With Arnold still on his hiatus, in honor of the word BRUMMAGEM (meaning "cheap and shoddy imitations") how about for the song of the day

"Got to be Real" (sung by Cheryl Lynn)

Morning all.

I just finished downloading the latest version of QuickTime (7.5). Since it's a Sunday morning and net traffic seems to be light it's a good time to download things.

Since TORCHWOOD is starting here again on friday, i have a question about DOCTOR WHO.  They are repeating season 3 here (i believe you guys just finished season 4).

I was just curious if these shows can easily be viewed on their own, out of order.

Good morning!

Another very warm and muggy day (high 92), so I'll be inside for much of the day. And I'll be busy most of the day, too.

I just wanted to say how much I've missed DR Arnold Brockman's songs of the day and other postings.

I did not like the second BACK TO THE FUTURE much at all. To be fair, I haven't seen it in a long time, but my memory is that it completely fell flat.

The third one felt so different from the first that I hardly think of it as a sequel, but as I recall, I liked it better than the second one.

I'm going to see how it works to bypass this week's MAD MEN on Sunday night and pick up the high definition version On Demand on, say, Wednesday night. If that works out OK, that'll be my way of watching the second season of the show. After watching the first season on  regular AMC last year and then reviewing the first season one Blu-ray and reveling in the period trappings in high def, I really don't want to go back to a SD presentation of this show.

Today I'm going to be watching and writing about FLYING THE SECRET SKY, a documentary produced by a friend of DR Edi. I'm looking forward to seeing this. Excited really to be given this early look at it.

While I cook and eat lunch today, I'll likely rewatch another CLOSER episode from season 3. With the remaining time this afternoon, I'll watch Monday night's THE MOLE.

Coming up tomorrow on TCM is THE HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929. A dear friend who had the laserdisc of this movie made me a VHS of it years ago, and I have practically worn it out. I am so excited to finally be able to burn a copy of the movie onto a DVD from a digital broadcast which should make the copy the best possible.

Warners has made no announcement of any intention of ever releasing this ancient relic of early sound cinema, so I'm very eager to get as good a copy as I can.

Wasn't Arnold due back the end of July?  His last posts said he was leaving for Israel on Tuesday July 15th for two weeks.

Has anyone heard from him?  Maybe he extended his stay there.

MattH, I am also looking forward to seeing THE HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929. I cannot remember if I have seen it before, but I am certain I have seen scenes from it, at least.

Yes, the clips featuring Joan Crawford, John Gilbert and Norma Shearer, the "Singing' in the Rain" number (it was written for this movie) seem to get excerpted quite a bit in other documentaries and programs.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the movie is in good enough shape to make a decent recording.
