Oh, I know people -- women, most particularly -- who speak like Holly and Kyra do in their respective shows.

Each method of speaking requires some internal adjustments for the listener, but once acclimated, both can be "handled." I find the stilted syntax much more difficult to listen to than "sh" sounds -- I keep mentally fixating on the staccato-like vocal process involved.

None of the women I've known who speak as Kyra does in "The Closer" are remotely as interesting as Sedgewick and tend toward preciousness rather than substance.

Of the women who speak a la Ms. Hunter, I can only say they scare the hell out of me, for the most part.

Last night's "Project Runway":

A somewhat interesting challenge, especially given that Apollo Ohno was a judge. He made some very interesting comments, too.

The winner was my second choice. Terri's outfit was my pick for best, and I'm certain it was a toss-up for the judges. The winner, however, works hard and deserved the recognization, IMO.

Fully concur with MattH about the bottom two. The right person went home, although a double-elimination might have been just fine given the survivor's attitude and cluelessness about the challenge.
