I had purchased two seats to Skip's show when they first became available online.  My DH decided this afternoon not to accompany me.  As it turned out, my two seats were immediately next to the seats purchased by DRs elmore3003 and JoseSPiano!  Talk about coinky-dinks!!!!  :D

I agree with DR elmore3003's assessment.  Skip's music was particularly lovely, and well performed.  Jonathan Kaplan, the little boy from Falsettos, has grown up into a lovely young man!

Thanks, DR elmore3003!  Perhaps we can arrange a rendez vous once I've finished your little project!

There are some nice falls in Prospect but i think that is out of your way.

The only thing I have to add to this discussion is that when we were traveling in our little camper, we broke down pulling into a camping spot at Crater Lake and had to be towed to Prospect for repairs. We are certain that Santa was out tow-truck driver -- I guess he needed a summer job.

What I'm talking about are details, such as the photos that survive from a passenger who got off at Cherbourg of a man with a black top coat and his son playing with a top.  It is that man's coat that Jack takes and the son is playing with the top just as he is in the photo.

Mr and Mrs. Strauss of Macy's fame died together because she refused to get off the Titanic.  He shows them together in the end.

There are countless other little details from the survivor accounts that are in the movie. They are in the background, mind you, but they are there

Cilla, I am glad that you enjoyed TITANIC, and more importantly, I am glad that the film sparked your interest in the actual tragedy.  It is a fascinating page out of history that has haunted me since I was a child.

For me, I prefer the British film A NIGHT TO REMEMBER or even the Clifton Webb / Barabara Stanwyck version to Mr. Cameron's version.

According to Accuweather.com, we are having a thunderstorm now. I guess we can't see the lightening because of the bright blue sky.

I understand the detractors of Cameron's version.  I know there was a lot of it that was fake. I enjoyed the love story.  I thought the middle chase through the water could have been cut way down, but I liked it.  To each his own.

I will ALWAYS prefer A NIGHT TO REMEMBER, because Walter Lord's book was my introduction to the Titanic.  My grandmother read it aloud to me when I was a wee 'un. (My grandmother read many things aloud to me when she was my baby sitter, including the morning papers; I owe her my enjoyment of reading).
So, I've been fascinated with Titanic for quite some time and have one entire bookshelf lined with books on the subject, from the good to the bad to the ugly.
I celebrated big time when Robert Ballard's crew discovered the wreckage.  Ballard is my contemporary hero, btw.
After Wednesday's adventure at the science center, I sat down and re-watched the A&E TITANIC on dvd; I'd love to go to Halifax someday and pay my respects to the departed.  I've also placed "The Riddle of the TITANIC" on my bedstand for some quick reading before going to bed.
I'd still like to learn more about the other ships in the vicinity that night, not just The Californian, whose captain became one of the scapegoats in the disaster.
But, to get my dander rising, one only has to mention the name of Ismay. . .

Oh!  I also watched the teevee movie starring Catherine Zeta-Jones for the first time.  Nice cast includes George C. Scott, Tim Curry, Peter Gallagher and as Mrs. Brown, Marilu Henner.

For several weeks now the news has been reporting that same bit of information.
