This morning Echo and I had a wonderful hike on Mt Ashland.  The wildflowers are in full bloom and it was cool there.  Echo did a belly flop into a stream of mud.  For some reason I couldn’t hose off the mud so she had a bath.  Now I have a wet dog lying next to me with tuffs of hair sticking out.
Keith says she looks as if she had a bad hair day.  She is soooo cute. :)

Keith just took her outside with him.  I hope she is dry by the time she comes back in.

For Ask BK Day:

Is there any chance at all for a new BK-produced Michelle Nicastro CD?  Can't get enough of that gal!

A quick hello to all. Out for the day and won't be back until tomorrow's notes are up. (I think). Not even time to read the posts!

No, DRJANE, it's a horror film titled THE CANDY MAN.  Calling his name three times means your death in the movie.  RLP set you up!

Just don't forget about your injured back! LOL!

Thank you, DRMBarnum.  I can't forget it.  It hurts like hell, but i have become a Motrin addict.  After three of those little orange pills I feel ready to dance THE NUTCRACKER.  I may watch your favorite film tonight, since it's my only viewing obligation left.

elmore, and then we will go for tofu.  I’m a great believer in eating dessert first.

I should read the post in order, and then I would have know you defended me and told RLP to apologize.  ;D  I am just so relieved it was a joke that went over my head and not my memory.  :D Thank you so much for saving me.  I don’t know what I would have done without you.

RLP, now the joke has been explained to me- :D

elmore: Yes, "the" Mr. Sher.

Robin: Never say never, but not in the near future anyway.

Sad to report that the new Gidget set is indeed full frame, even the first Cinemascope film which looks horrid pan and scan (the titles are scope).  A real shame.  I just don't "get" Columbia at all.  They do some of the great DVDs of really obscure things like Bonjour Tristesse and The Swimmer, and they do them right despite those titles having limited appeal.  But Gidget they do Pan and Scan.  Someone needs to bitch-slap whoever is making these very occasional and very odd decisions.

SWW I don’t suppose you wanted to be around when your boss disciplined your co-worker.
Yes, I thought it might be best to put a little distance between us.  The co-worker can get highly in-your-face, and has been disciplined for that before this.  I didn't see any sense in tempting the fates and provoking another incident.  But the simple fact was, we had too many people at the store for the afternoon, and my leaving for the day helped us keep to our budget (and earned points with the boss).

Instead, I've brought home some study materials on cookware, so maybe I'll be better at answering questions on which pan is better than another.  I really don't like bluffing on answers, making guesses and passing the guesses off as facts.  I don't mind not being the best salesman on the team...but I'll be danged if I'm not going to make the others work to keep the current pecking order!

Ok, I have researched "What If" cast member Paul Haber...he played gang member # 1 on an episode of MANIMAL, was Cute Investment Banker in an episode of SEX IN THE CITY, was a regular on the soap AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1999, and in the TV series SUPERIOR COURT in 1988, and he had a co-starring role in the horror film FEAR NO EVIL in 1981...seems like a neat guy and my kind of actor!

Are you sure all these credits belong to the same "Paul Haber?"  He looks rather young to have been in a 1981 horror film.  Are you going to trek to LA to see the show and meet the cast?

I just made my appointment in Bethesda for Monday and Tuesday, October 4th and 5th.  Afterwards I will go to NY.  I would go the weekend before but my niece will be in L.A. and I don’t want to miss her.  I don’t know yet how many days I will go for or if I will arrive on the 5th or 6th.

I will make my final plans in September since my NY trip depends on Echo’s condition.  So far, so good, but if things change I will have to rethink my NY plans.

SWW it sure would be fun to shop in your store while you are on the job.  If only I could twitch my nose and pop in for the day.  If I could that then I could twitch some more and go to LA for the evening to see “What If”.

I certainly had my tongue in my cheek, DR Jane.

I hoped you'd know the reference...or that Keith would.

I certainly did not mean it in a "mean" way.  Your having said his name 9 times   -- and then flubbing it on the 10th time -- surely made elmore's Insulin Antidote unnecessary -- excessive name-calling had to have rendered the blighter helpless.

I believe DR MattH's birthday is Sept. 3.  It's shortly after mine, and mine is Sept. 2.

A question right back at the DRs:

What are your favorite songs about food?

I love Bernstein's "I Can Cook, Too". and "Ice Cream" from She Loves Me. There is a very good song, called Tango, on a new CD by Eva Moon, that rhapsodizes very sensually about chocolate. Mmmmmm.

I adored seeing him in Pleasantville.  Didn't really care for the movie (I think it's in the dictionary under the word "heavyhanded"), but it's always great to see an old favorite show up in a contemporary movie.

Favorite Don Knotts movie: The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

That unfortunatly is my least favorite, As a matter of fact I consider it one of the worse films I ever saw. I was five years old and it was one of the few films I was allowed to see in Montreal at time. At that age I thought it was dumb, stupid and boring. Not necesarily in that order.

Young children for  the longest time were not allowed to see movies because of a terrible fire where many children died. It wasn't unti the mid to late 60's where the restriction was lifted.

Ask BK Question Day #2

Recently bought the Thunderbird Movie Set. How do they remaster the soundtracks from mono to DTS and/or Dolby 5.1? How can they keep the original director "vision" intact without changing it for modern audiences?

ASK BK QUESTION DAY #3

So many DVD now have "Documentaries" as part of their special editions.  Why do they break them up into separate documentaries or give you the oportunity to "PLAY ALL" If you chose the later you still have to watch multi opening and closing credits for each individual documentary.

Why not just make one long one with multi chapter stops so you can skip over the parts that do not interest you?

I have most of the foreign releases, both from Japan and Hong Kong, but I'd never seen the Superman one, which is so obtuse that I like it.
